That depends on how far the PPV falls from their expectations/target. But Espinoza is super sharp and he doesn't just take unnecessary risks so I doubt the fight will have a huge impact on the budget, or THAT much more than they anticipated.
But let's say if it did only 200k buys? Then fair to say it would affect the budget more than just a "little" lol.
Very true. I guess the bright side is that they increased the budget a good deal this year, so the impact won't be felt too much.
I put the over/under at 350k. Anything over 400k and that would be really really solid. I have some doubts on that. One thing I will say and not sure if this results in PPV buys or not, but the SHO youtube page for the weigh ins and other mini-documentaries did better for this fight than the Wilder/Fury fight. But the Wilder/Fury fight was trending more on twitter than this one. To me they seem like similar PPV fights. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the numbers are off only 25-50k.
SHO is no doubt taking money out of their budget to cover some of Pacquiao's purse. The $10 million is just guaranteed, but supposedly he is set to make $20 million and that falls more in line in what Hearn was saying after he met with Pacquiao's team. He said they are talking 20-25 million for their next fight and that is mad.
I wonder how they did in terms of live gate. Got 13k on Saturday, but obviously some will be comps and they did have to slash their prices the week of the fight. Another insanely priced event but all of Pacquiao's fights are.
agreed on all points. greened.
Espinoza said that if a ppv flops, it'll only affect their budget a little. Just like if they get a big success like Mayweather/McGregor, it won't increase their budget. It gets spread out among the CBS corporation ,

ITV would have paid a certain rights fees for the fight. The PPV sales in the states don't impact that at all.
The PPV sales would definitely impact the boxing budget for SHO though. Anything less than their target amount and the money comes out of the budget. That's the most important reason it needs to do well.
As for sponsorships? It is more important fights on FOX do good numbers to attract sponsors than these PPV buys.

id be uncomfortable wagering any of my money on a figure higher than 400k. and considering wilders last outing with fury did circa 350 ish more or less, and the fact that this is another 75 dollars from a persons january wages a month after the outlay for that fight, i cant see it even doing that much.
considering pacs purse was a guaranteed 10 million according to most, id love to know what the breakeven was afterthe network and cable splits.
If it didnt hit wilder/fury numbers, it must have been a money loser

Right, that number just makes no sense at all. Now, I have no idea if this was PPV in the Philippines or not but I'd wager to guess it wasn't. Then the only other area it could have been PPV was in the UK and it wasn't as it was on ITV4. So that 2M number is complete BS.
The 500-750k buys prediction for just stateside is also being VERY optimistic. I didn't see THAT type of buzz on social media for that fight. I believe we get that for Wilder/Fury II, but didn't see that for this past weekend's card.

That's the thing with international ppv sales and itv new deal with pbc they dog need to exactly do those numbers plus sponsors
absolutely nothing from ITV went towards the financials of this fight.
ITV paid next to nothing for it. their US content from PBC is subsidised by their UK PPV offerings, of which there have been none so far.
The ones that have been offered, the UK public is baulking at.
(ITV want us to pay the same amount for eubank vs degale as we would to hearn for a sky ppv)
International broadcast rights make up for surprisingly little when all things are considered when the netowkr buying the rights has no plans to make the show ppv for themselves.. Showtime picked up whyte vs chisora 2 for surprisingly little after DAZN exercised first refusal.
whilst it made a killing in the UK, the US rights werent worth much at all, as it didnt fit into a good time slot for viewership and wasnt really that much of interest to US fans.

I had the UFC ESPN+ on my laptop streaming but wasnt really paying attention since I dont really care about UFC, but the main fights were over by the time Pac-Broner started
Yeah, but you are a boxing fan first and foremost. You aren't the target audience I was talking about.
literally no idea what this guys talking about. the only figure re: two mill ive seen is the google trends figure. nothing to do with buys.
it was free in the UK on ITV4 and at 4am i can guarantee that at that time on a saturday there wasnt over 500k people watched it.

No, 200k is not a success at all. It better do at least 350k and probably closer to 400k if it has any chance to cover the purses for both main event fighters. I'm sure SHO gave Pacman a solid amount of money from their budget for the fight, but then he will be getting even more than anticipated if it only does 200k buys.
Over/under needs to be set at 350k.

That was the entire point lol. Those casuals who watch both MMA and boxing. How can you say this PPV didn't lose any buys to those that chose to watch the big UFC card instead?

But what international buys are you talking about? Give me the country this was a PPV on aside from the US. Where are you getting the 2 million number from. Sorry, but just super confused here.

Your the international numbers I believe are over 2 million. But for national I still think it did about 500k they are both big names in the sport

Huh? Why would you count international numbers here for the PPV? And what international numbers in particular? Where else was this a PPV at?

I did see more promotion for UFC than Loma fight. Then again it was the ESPN premier.
Both got really good lead ins, but of course the UFC is going to get more promotion as ESPN is paying WAY more fight that than boxing. TR has put both Crawford and Pacquiao on ESPN+ and never released any numbers yet they just released the amount of subscribers they got on Friday and Saturday because of the UFC card. That should tell you something there.
I wonder how much the prelims are going to do for this UFC card. If they got a 1.4 rating, I'm guessing they averaged close to 2.5M and peaked close to 3M. I mean that is a rough estimate off Lomachenko/Pedraza having a 1.0 HH rating and doing 1.85M average and 2.1M peak.
The UFC fight at the time was still trending and #UFCBrooklyn was the #1 trend for a good part of the night. The overnight HH rating the prelims did was VERY good, and even topped Lomachenko/Pedraza following the Heisman Trophy presentation.

Casuals would probably choose boxing vs mma because of the guys involved. I seen nothing on my timeline about it. No friends mentioned it. Friends mentioned the last UFC event with Jones tho.
