This is what we all wanted right? It's almost surreal how much boxing coverage there is now on TV.
Today:
12:30 PM EST - PBC Face to Face - Keith Thurman vs Josesito Lopez - Main FOX
followed by
1:00 PM EST - PBC Countdown - Keith Thurman vs Josesito Lopez - Main FOX
This promo train keeps rolling for FOX, even before the Plant fight we are getting main FOX coverage today for the Keith Thurman fight. For any fights that are on the main FOX, they will air the Face to Face Interview show and the Countdown training camp show on the main FOX as well. They will also replay them non stop on FS1 and FS2.
The casuals are going to start rolling in very soon and getting used to these fighters. I'm expecting even more fighters to be joining PBC...it's going to be really difficult for something like DAZN to compete with this, almost impossible actually.
Even the FOX social media and online presence is trumping DAZN right now (and that is effectively the only way DAZN can promote)
This cookie cutter UFC model that FOX is doing for PBC is going to project boxing back to the masses. It's somewhat of a force feeding of boxing to the masses that hasn't been done...ever
As for the actual programming, I dig the countdown shows that feature the fighters and the face to face shows are fine, but the Inside the PBC is pretty bad. Not digging that at all. If the maybe cut it to half an hour then it could be decent. But you can't have an hour show dedicated to just the PBC. If it was a full boxing show speaking of other fights on other networks? Then that would be different. Seems like the really struggle to fill the time and do a lot of weird stuff. Like what the hell was that with Pacquiao on the last segment?
So unless they expand it to talking about all the upcoming fights and what not, then you could run it for an hour. But it is called "Inside the PBC" so that will likely never happen. Cut it to half an hour or the show will fail miserably.
It sure wasn't a fight I wanted. Only the WBA ranks Lopez at number 7. The other 3 don't rank him at all. Boxrec ranks him the 43rd best welterweight. Lopez is 34 years old with 7 losses, a ko percentage of 43% and he has been KOed 3 times in his last 9 fights. He is a cherry pick. Fury claims he is the best but KOing Lopez sure won't prove anything,
it's not a cherrypick, it's a tune up. And nobody is claiming it's anything but.

Cherry pick after being out nearly two years? What kind of opponent were you expecting here? Now, he keeps saying he wants multiple tune up fights but that shouldn't happen. But he certainly is due at least one tune up fight before fighting the likes of Spence or Porter's of the world.
Lopez seems to be in a good place right now and looked good against Miguel Cruz last fight. He needs to take the fight to Thurman from the opening bell and try to draw him in a fire fight. It will likely end up with him getting stopped, but it may put Thurman in some vulnerable spots and who knows how he will react after being out of the ring so long. Unlike Ward and Mikey who were still in the gym during their long lay offs, Thurman has done very little training during this time as he had hand and elbow injuries.
Didn't DVR the face to face and deleted the countdown show thinking it was the one I saw last week. Oops lol.

This deal will be huge for boxing. I didn't think Fox would be doing this much coverage along with the cards! (and shows that aren't immediately after or before a card)
