floyd is SUPERIOR. therefore he is the GOAT. period. what does ali do better than floyd in the ring???
i seriously doubt people will be raving over floyds epic fights in years to come as there were none he was a boring as hell safety first fighter who always had to have his way when negoiating fights weight clauses and glove size refs in his pocket etc , he had a great defense no question but people forget ali was near untouchable in the early years he was lighting fast with movement and handspeed for a heavyweight thats just incredible and even in his latter career he was never a diva demanding larger glove sizes or only fight fighters in there decline he fought monsters at there best , he will always be a different higher tier fighter to me than mayweather.
--- Neither Ali nor Ali Raymi were near the daddy's boy sissy TUE 50-0 was.
Both were faster and would knock him out before he can go squalin' fer his dear daddy.

There has been no man like Ali Raymi. He strode the Earth like a God and where his gaze fell brave men soiled themselves and his scent alone sent virgins into the throes of shuddering climax. Blessed are we that walked in his shadow, that breathed the air he breathed.
Excerpt from 'The Book of Raymi'
I'm sure Floyd has skills that equal or better ali in department s.
But Ali fought people's at their best. Floyd fights em at worst. Maybe not worst but 98% time wanted advantages.
All he had to do was best Nelo at middleweight but he didn't want it. He would be underdog but if he beat Ggg or Nell then people would have to concede Floyd was better than they thought he was. But Floyd didn't want to prove people wrong ever. Just happy to beat people he was expected beat, either cos they were smaller than him, or past prime, or not in prime with cw, or not even exactly great in first place

Floyd is miles above Ali. He had more levels and could box more styles unlike Ali who was just an outside counterpuncher that later turned into the modern day Wlad punch and hug boxer. Floyd also went to the body which was something Ali didn't do. TBE!
Myweather is way better technically that cant be disputed.
Floyd would use real defense against a slow, plodding opponent. Not some dumbass rope-a-dope lol and shed off couple years to his life.
You'd not catch Ali waiting for Liston, forman frazier to age enough to slow down. Nor actually come out and say that he did "I got to look after me".
Nevertheless Mayweather is a top echelon ATG, just not challenging for number 1 like Ali does with the HWs.
yeah cool fantasy cept ali fought prime greats and floyd didn't. its like charlie zelenoff saying he is better because he knocked out some guy he found at the gym who he asked to do "light sparring" with. yes there are different levels and floyd refused to fight at the top level. you are trying to pretend dominance and being undefeated equates to what ali did. you can't compare them because they are in different leagues. floyd wouldnt have looked the same if he did what ali did. ali wouldnt' have looked the same if he did what floyd did. all you can compare is what they actually did and floyds resume is crap. all the good fighters he fought were way way past it. the solid guys like castillo most had him losing to and canelo is the only guy worth anything but he was clearly drained at 154 let alone 152. if ali had fought a recently ko'd foreman, a 40 year old frazier, a drained liston etc...then yeah you could reasonably compare their "skills" against similar opposition.
I'd say they're both great but I really can't stand how much old fighters get hyped up.
Old fighters get all this hype and people act like their gods. Yet a lot of old fighters spent most of their career fighting bums. They faced a few good threats but they'd fight about 80 or more bums out of 100 fights. All these greats also lost to lesser fighters and kept losing when they were at the age when Floyd retired.
I'd say they're both great but I really can't stand how much old fighters get hyped up.
True, but you also have to look at the context in which they fought. Ali did certain stuff that might not seem like a big deal now but he was revolutionary and a pioneer. Like Willie Pep's footwork was a game changer at the time but you'd almost think it looked silly with the historical context.
I'd give Ali the edge in chin, footwork (close), jab, power, and resume. Both are great and top 10 ATGs. I think it's time we acknowledge Floyd belongs in the that category.
