In the interview he said if he can't get Wilder or Fury then Ortiz, Miller and Whyte are his next options. Let's be honest of those 3 Ortiz is the least likely.
Whyte is the biggest fight of those 3 from a financial perspective, Miller and Ortiz can't fill an arena by themselves while Whyte is a proven PPV fighter now.
Miller is likely next because of his deal with Matchroom and keeping it in house is the more prudent choice and then finally we have Ortiz, he beats him Joshua get's accused of beating an old man like Wilder did, he's probably the least financially lucrative option as at least Miller with his mouth can help promote a fight, Ortiz doesn't even speak English. Are you aj's accounting? If aj is filling the stadium it doesn't matter who the opponent is. There's not going to be any seats available anyway. And what is the problem with Ortiz not speaking English? Is going to be a fight not a hand signs contest. A good translator would do.
Boxing scene top headlines says Hearn says Whyte is the front runner. I am sure it will be AJ vs Whyte and not Ortiz. That's ok by me. I think Whyte deserves a title shot more than Ortiz and is a better fighter than Ortiz.
Either Whyte or Ortiz would be worthy challengers. I think Whyte should be first in line because he has been beating top guys and has only lost to AJ a long time ago. I think he is ranked higher than Ortiz in most rankings. Ortiz is a top 5 heavyweight so he is a good fight for AJ also.
If his next fight is in America then Miller or Ortiz, but he should fight Whyte fight in April . Whyte deserves his shot at a title. Then if he beats Whyte he can take his show on the road and fight Miller or Ortiz in America, only after either of those two beat a good name or if they both fight each other.
If AJ knocks him out they won't give him credit anyway...
It'll just be some excuses like Wilder ruined him or AJ beat leftovers. If I was AJ I'd lure Fury into the Ring, since he beat Wilder and Wilder doesn't want the fight.
That's a fight that would be great for the fans, but from Fury's perspective the Wilder rematch makes money and is easier as he's already beaten Wilder once. Sadly, Warren and TV deals make this (AJ V Fury) hard to put together. I'd love to see it happen though.
Assuming Wilder Fury 2 happens, I'd like to see AJ fight Miller.
I think the WBC will mandate a Whyte fight in 2019, whether that is Fury or Wilder. Then when Whyte has the other belt we can see Joshua Whyte 2 for all the marbles.
The Mayweather effect is in play with Wilder, he simply is risk averse and afraid to lose his 0. He did not expect that from Fury lol, so it's a rock and a hard place now for DW, but he may be allowed to get away with taking on Breazeale. Who knows, but sooner or later that belt gonna be on the line in a unification.
I can see aj vs ortiz at barclays
Khan may want the wembley april 13th date and hearn may give him it to make the brook fight, meaning aj would then be more likely to fight in america instead vs miller or ortiz.
Whyte could fight breazeale at the o2 with chisora vs price as the co-main. That is an easy ko win for whyte imo.
Yup, all the AJ fanatics would start rating Ortiz all of a sudden...
you mean he wouldn't be a 49 year old who is one blood pressure pill away from a stroke?
IF AJ takes on Ortiz, win or lose, I give him respect, and full credit for the win. For some reason though, Hearn and him seem to shy away from Ortiz. It would be a great comparison to how Wilder did, and build their potential fight even more.
My guess is, no way will Hearn and AJ take the fight. Hope I am wrong. Until I see it signed and scheduled, I will attribute it to Joshua just name dropping. He talks about guys pricing themselves out. Hell, Ortiz would fight him for 100K.
We cant have this. Joshua is being accused of fighting bums instead of Fury or Wilder. He fought an unbeaten world champion and followed that up with Povetkin who had only lost to the divisions dominant king and nobody else. If he takes on old man Ortiz who has never won a world title and doesnt have a really good resume then sure that is a step down, If Parker and Povetkin are bums what the hell is Luis Ortiz?
Joshua destroys Ortiz easy. Even ****ing Wilder beat him and hes the most protected fighter in the sport and a bit of a fraud.
Youll see the fastest 180 ever on a fighters reputation regarding ortiz if joshua signs to fight him
Yup, all the AJ fanatics would start rating Ortiz all of a sudden...
