So Michael Buffer introduced Canelo as “El Legendario Campion Mundial” which translates to “The Legendary World Champion” at the start of the Rocky Fielding fight. At 28 yrs old I definitely see Canelo as a Hall of Famer already but a legend probably not yet. Although, Canelo is a 3 Division world champion and has fought 5 fights against 4 HOF’s (Mayweather, Mosley, Cotto, GGGx2) I can’t put him in JCC Sr. or Salvador Sanchez legendary level. If Canelo where to conquer the 168 lbs division either with W’s against the likes of Callum Smith, David Benavidez or even to a lesser extend Zurdo then Canelo should be considered the legendary world champion, thoughts?
He looked great against Fielding and Chavez Jr. But dominated GGG????? You must be another GGG hater this board has so many of. Canelo won a split decision by a tiny margin of a single point in Canelo loving Vegas on a show put on by Canelo's promoter. Is that your idea of domination? If the fight had been in London or Paris or Berlin with good honest judges GGG would have won a UD both fights.
Dominated the center of the ring, not necessarily GGG.
Although I had Canelo winning 8-4 or somewhere in that range when the fight was over.
Even though he lost twice to Ggg he is becoming legendary as his opponents are praising him.
And he's fighting high calibre fighters mostly of late.
If he beats jacobs, bjs and Callum Smith he is the genuine article of legenday
He’s only 28 and still adding to his legacy but eventually he’ll be considered a true great no doubt about it and if you think he won’t be goes to show the haters are blinded by nothing but hate and race which most here are regardless how hard they try to ACT like their not.
Yet you’ve been banned for racism and hatred twice and constantly hate on white fighters and white people and black fighters and black people.
Go **** yourself loser. Get a life. You are a joke.
Does the regular belt counts as a third division title? I think it should only be super belts.
the top belt is ALWAYS the world belt, since theres nothing bigger than the world.
Until we start screening interplanetary sports. reg belt and its ilk are 2nd tier, along with any other goober belt someone invents.
“Drug case”
Man gtfo with that BS.
there is the some evidence, partly circum than concrete, that he did use them even though its not proven, come on, his readings were off the charts.
I'm not claiming he did outright, you omitted the word "possible"
Fielding- ridiculously dominated him.
GGG- backed him up and dominated the center of the ring
Chavez Jr- Chavez took a beating from a dude who is considerably smaller than him.
He backed GGG up as much as Stevens did, which is to say not that much. If he dominated so much he would've got more than just a MD. And Fielding had a height advantage, wasn't very good to begin with and had to have a weight restriction. And Chavez :lol1:
I think he lost to GGG but not to Lara. He damn near chased Lara out of the ring and landed the better harder punches coming forward not running like a scared rabbit.
Yeah he beat Lara but he struggled. I saw it the same way you did. He hurt him to the body. I think it was the fourth round. After that I thought he started to get the upper hand. Didn't score the fight just my impression. I also had Golovkin winning both fights.
His signature “wins” are a gift draw and two gift decisions (Lara and GGG) and neither of those are great fighters or even close to. He’s skills are solid but he’s nothing special. Then you’ve got failed tests in his 20s and that’s huge.
He’ll never go down as a “great” and if you think he already is then you just don’t know enough about the sport and it’s history.
Spot on. Aside from one sided lose to Floyd,Canelo should have lost to GGG and Lara.

Wait...you dont think theyre HOFers? Yikes.
Theyre EASY HOFers. Not even up to debate.
As for the topic, I dunno. Yes and no. I mean taking his age into account especially in today’s landscape, he’s got an unreal resume compared to people his age.
You know what? Sure. I’ll give the ginger his props. He’s a def hofer already and is supposed to be in his prime (though sometimes I wonder. He’s not a typical 28 year old hes been around a while at a high level. His knees seem to be of concern, ish like that. Those camps for all those 12 rounders are tough).
But yeah. He’s legendary. I wouldnt be mad if they said it about Loma either or Rigo at 22. Gatti was legendary for example. Canelo has shown us he’s been at the top level for a really long time and hes barely 28. Legendary doesnt equal atg so I aint mad. Deontay is legendary (as a puncher), etc. I’ll give props..Pay no attention to him. He is just a negative poster who likes to trash good fighters. The better they are the bigger hypejob he says they are. GGG and Cotto will go to the hall first ballot.

Buffer was probably told to say that. I don't think he is legendary yet but he is getting close. I don't think he needs to clean out 168 to get there. He isn't a 168 pound boxer. He is a middleweight. A few more impressive wins over top middleweights should get him to that legendary level. If he did beat Callum Smith that would probably make him a legendary champion but What if Smith beats him? He is now a little less legendary.
