His countrymen Khan and Liam Smith were way smaller, but came with a game plan, showed balls and held their own with Canelo.
Fielding psyched himself out and wilted once he felt a few body shots. Even the carcass of Angulo took those shots.
Jamie Moore had to be embarrassed.
What has this topic to do with Khan, is he going to smash Canelo now LOL.
No, because the thread creator mentioned Khan and Liam Smith. Thats why I mentioned Khan in my comment. Liam Smith I am not going to even compare him..
Gameplan or no, would had still been the same result, maybe a round or two later. Khan is much better then Fielding and much more experienced.
Khan is smaller then Canelo and his chin isn't the best one. Fielding has reach, height and weight advantage and all he did was, go down to Canelo's size the whole fight, instead of fighting tall and at range. (Easier said then done obviously, there is where experience comes to play).

why are you talking about taking a dive? the guy isn't good. you wouldnt know if he was taking a dive or not. if canelo fought margarito and marg took a knee the first time he got hit yeah he's probably taking a dive because he's tough as hell. this guy is not tough as hell and everyone knew it. did you ever study his fights? ko'd in 1 round, kd'd by a guy with 6 ko's, 2 SD wins against nobodies. oh wait he ko'd some guy named tryone sponge who got a gift decision over another guy named giovani de carolis who is 27-9. we are really going down the rabbit hole now
I don't think you usually break people down to the body in 1 round, especially not someone who came to fight.
Having been hit, and having hit enough people to the liver myself in the ring, you can see the eyes of someone that was just touched good. They don't look like Fieldings did. I'm going out on a limb and saying he wasn't actually hurt, maybe scared of getting hurt, but unable to stand after those shots? No. Not a chance.
He didn't even try and defend his body when he got up. He wanted an excuse to get out of the fight.
We are 100% in agreement. Rocky didn’t come to survive, box, or anything. He came to make Canelo look good at 168. That’s what I was saying, they weren’t liver shots, they were standard body shots. They were hard, but not nearly enough to drop a pro boxer four times in three rounds. I’m willing to bet Rocky’s urine sample is a normal color lol
It was a very bad look, Id ALMOST go out on a limb and say he was paid to dive. He clearly wasn't anywhere close to Canelo's level, but that was embarrassing.
How often do you see fighters go down from a body shot, not wince in pain, and just look at the ref the whole time? Never.
Not unless they are looking for a way out of the fight. Someone goes down from a body shot, you see it in their eyes, in their face, in everything. It hurts really bad. He didn't have that.
Haha don't even need to pay for him a dive, they paid him well already.
I just think he probably saw the Kirkland tape too much and didn't want to go out like that once he felt the power. But yeah, it looks horrible.
!! Shawn agree. look at Liam Smith if you want to see what a perfectly placed bodyshot from Canelo looks like. i believe he was rolling around the canvas in agony...
Usually looks something like this when someone is stopped from a body shot.

Fielding was smiling everytime he got knocked down as if it was an honor acting hurt by a Canelo punch. Weird guy. He then almost kissed Canelo after for taking his belt lol.

For a liver shot, yes. Canelo didn't hit Fielding anywhere near the liver. He just broke him down with normal, albiet hard Body Shots.
You are 100% correct. Fielding just didn't want to be there. He wanted his corner to call it each time he dropped. When they told him to get up, he did with no troubles. I'm sure he told them in the locker room to throw in the towel if they see him in any trouble.

I wouldn't say he didn't come to fight because he certainly kept getting up and giving it a go. I would say that he lacked a gameplan though.
Did he actually get put down though, or did he keep taking a Knee?

He definitely looked like he could have stayed on his feet had he wanted too in my eyes.
Just never looked like someone even hurt to the body even after he got up.
Khan put in a much better performance than fielding and consideirng khan is a chinny welterweight (who started at LW) and Fielding is a 6'2 SMW is a joke tbh.
he had horrible punch resistance and that is WHY he was chosen. he got ko'd in 1 round by callum smith and dropped by a guy with 6 ko's. come on we knew what was coming and so did canelos team. don't blame hte guy for not being able to take it. blame canelo's team or give them credit for a well picked cherry.
casuals far outweigh the informed and they just saw canelo destroy a "champ" in a bigger division. casuals love ko's and they love that type of narrative. it was a great win for canelo's stature. obviously we know the dude was a bum. he probably knew it lol
Everyone reacts differently to pain or whatever the body's reaction is to the big hits Canelo was serving, looking at it objectively the punishment was severe so obviously it would have a real effect no matter what the superficial reaction was. Looking at other fights where big body shots involved there can even be a delayed reaction so it's different folks for different pokes. Too many cynics around here.
