Wilder is not only an embarassment to the Heavyweight division, but also an embarrassment to boxing, America, the English language, as well as the human race.
The casuals have spoken. He's not special, and against Fury it was confirmed.
He loses to Fury in the rematch and he loses to Joshua.
He'll be forgotten as he's not much to remember. Above average fighter, only because of his power.
exactly. he was going for a W, struggling, earning his legacy. so far Deonaty fought who? Fury and Ortiz? 2 legit opponents, and Ortiz being close to 40 y.o or so. Wilder is good, but let him first fight someone. or else he might have 70-0 and he wont be remembered as Rocky.
The problem is, I am not sure AJ fights Ortiz and Fury and comes thru it without a loss.
And I think those two on Wilder's resume trump any two on AJ's.
That's why they are folks starting to call AJ the 3rd or 4th best heavyweight.
Others are going out and testing themselves against the best.
Ortiz is still highly regarded (and avoided) despite the loss, for example.
Marciano took severe azz whippings for large portions of his fights, got hit more and worse than anything Wilder has ever done. Dude got dropped by old geezers.
It's a testimony to his chin and his power that he got up and was able to win those fights he was getting housed in, but let's not act like he was this technical wizard. He wasn't.

Marciano was fighting to earn every W in his matches. his 49-0 is a damn record..compared to wilders bum strike. and in no way Rocky was one dimensional fighter like HW champ Wilder is when he faces legit opposition.

What's Marciano got to do with anything ?.
Even though they are much different physically, they win in very much the same way.
Not the most skill, but decent chin, great conditioning, and a murderous punch.
Both men can lose large portions of a fight, yet still be close on the cards because of KDs.
Both men can end a fight they are losing spectacularly, and often did/have.

The most classless one.
Wilder was 50% of the biggest drama the HW division has seen in years .
Theres only 1 embarrasment to the HW division and his name isnt Tyson or Deontay

You know Marciano was considered to be a bum beater right? He was also criticized for retiring instead of fighting Floyd Patterson.
Picking apart someone’s resume is the easiest thing to do if you want.
Why would he be an embarrassment? He's an elite fighter who has reached the level of other elite fighters and still held his own. Sure Fury outslicked him...but then on the flip side he outpunched Fury. Against Ortiz he went power for power and eventually came out on top. It's a winners mentality. Same theory holds true for GGG who has found himself in similar adversity. The only one who tried and failed in this type of situation is Kovalev...who folded mentally and may never recover.
Was Marciano an embarrassment?

I definitely disagree with that. I think he is a credit to the division in terms of his power alone. For a smaller guy to hit that hard is something that we should enjoy. Maybe i have been blinded or whatever because the technical side (Or lack of it) that most people seem to talk about previously, am now seeing it.
Wilder is still the same fighter that he has always been since holding a title. He's technically horrible, and that won't improve now in his 30s, but he has dynamite in his hands and can end any current heavyweight if he connects good enough.

Hmmm. That's a bit disingenuous, ain't it? I mean - you are one of the folk that have been slating Wilder, aintcha? And I haven't seen a lot of such comments -or at least certainly no more than the normal post fight triumphalism that happens after any hyped fighter takes a knock.
Dude was a late starter and is never going to make an illustration in textbooks on boxing fundamentals, but he's still a hellishly dangerous finisher who would stand a fairish chance of KOing pretty much any fighter in history on any given night.
