As you all know, I have been very critical of Wilder's boxing ability and the opposition he has faced, but I cannot continue to criticize this man and look at him as an enemy. As an American, i'm a hypocrite. During the olympics, no matter what sport, i'm rooting for the American. In boxing, it is the opposite. America hasn't had a superstar HW since Tyson and Holyfield. Wilder has the ability to be a superstar but due to lack of promotion, being avoided, and racism he has received the shorter end of the stick compared to the likes of Canelo and AJ(who lives in a much less-racist country compared to the US)
Let's just call it what it is, Wilder is hated in the US because he is an African American who is not afraid to speak on racial issues. It's funny how we all fall head over heels over fighters like Spence, Thurman, and Crawford but when was the last time any of these guys ever mentioned a thing about the struggle of African Americans in the United States? Wilder is the only American fighter we have who is not afraid to speak his mind. As you all know, I am a huge AJ fan but, now, I want, and hope, that Wilder will be the undisputed HW champion of the world.
Yes, Wilder is sloppy. Yes, he isn't the most technical fighter out there. But, one thing is for certain, he is a KO king, he's charismatic, he's entertaining, and he is a Champion.
BOMB SQUAD!!!!!!
For those who don't know, he's talking about Jamestown 1619.

:lol1: Rahim is a d1ckhead anyways. Wilder is likeable when he’s not talking about “getting a body” on his record, and he has crazy power. That combined with him being unpredictable/raw makes him must-watch tv.
Wilder is probably the most popular American Fighter right now and is about to test the PPV market.
It’s not that he hasn’t been marketed properly because it’s that Boxing is a niche sport in the States and boxers popularity can only reach so far unless they cross over into the mainstream and Wilder for a American Fighters up to this point has been marketed great
Like other niche sports ( ie Snowboarding =Shaun White , Cycling = Lance Armstrong ) Right now The States only has the attention span for 1 boxer at time to be the face of the sport and while he’s not there yet if he keeps winning Wilder has put himself in the best position to be the new face of the sport among current fighters
Tiger & Jordan had the financial backing of billion dollar companies to hype them up and sell their goods and make them household names to non sport fans , These companies don’t get behind boxers
Even Floyd who marketed himself into the mainstream wasn’t endorsed by corporate America. But he’s a genius at making himself known and didn’t need them to succeed but what he did is f.ucking damn near impossible.
I agree, boxing being a niche sport is a big factor. Believe it or not in 1987 Tyson was bigger than Micheal Jordan and was headed into corporate backing by Diet Pepsi etc. Then his troubles couldn't be masked any longer. And we know the rest of the story. Nobody would then touch hinm with a 10 ft pole. We won't be seeing Bill Cosby doing commercials with children anymore either for reasons outside of his skin color.
Excellent post. Poor promotion is why he isn't more popular, not racism. Add into the fact that boxing isn't anywhere near what it was in the US and it seems the interest is declining.
Thank you sir. I believe most people are tired of the race thing. We are all discriminated against for variety of strange reasons. It's called obstacles in life, they are blessings in disguise when we use them to drive us toward our desired outcome.
So typical, America hasn't embraced him. It's because all the racist white people. People don't know who the fck he is. H doesn't have the appeal to the casual fans that will make him a cross over star. It sure as hell isn't racism, 99% of the boxers who have made it big in America we're black, GTFO.
Radio exposed himself and I doubt any black woman would ever give him some coochie again...Bomber sonned him hard and every black boxer is happy that Bomber snapped on him...the black community is making him the butt of all kinds of jokes on social media...they’re calling him Uncle Ruckus:rofl:
I'm a fan of Wilders personality and I root for him because of his daughter's struggles but can we please stop with the race BS...
Wilder is not hated by anyone but UK Joshua fans. Wilder is not even known here in the US to be hated... nobody cares about him one way or the other except us in the boxing community.
If he went up to 100 people and asked them what sport he was in, 95 of them would say basketball lol...
Yeah, I remember reading at the Olympics, people thought he was LeBron
Boxing was a niche sport in the UK but AJ came along with the right marketing and made it popular.
Your just making excuses, Wilder is supposed the backing Al Haymon the super manager who you guys claim is way better than Hearn.
Tiger & Jordan earnt the backing of the billion dollar companies by proving they was the best by competing with and beating the best they wasn't born with it.
Whether it's Wilders fault or not he has only just started with the top comp after 39 fights you shouldn't expect billion dollar handouts for this and blame it on race when it you don't get them.
The UK supports their own when it comes
To Boxing and this was before AJ cake along, Boxing is further up the ladder as far as sports in the mainstream in the UK compared to the States and it’s been like that for awhile
Why bring Hearn into this? , Hearns done a great job promoting his American fighters though Haymons job is to get his fighters maximum revenue and only Recently with the PBC to expose them to a wider audience. It’s not His job to promote them . Look at Mayweather he promoted himself to superstardom. That’s why most American boxers only Reach a certain level because they don’t market themselves even Broner for all his faults markets himself better then 99% of fighters and it shows. Wilders making a effort and his momentum is building
Yes Jordan / Tiger proves they were the best but Corporations are willing to make even good athletes known to the masses if they compete in a sport that’s popular in the States , They don’t really Do it for niche sports unless they are the face of their sport and Wilder isn’t there
I never blamed it on race f.uck nuts just saying he competes in a sport that corporate America hasn’t Shown a interest in making the athletes cross over stars because the audience is relatively small, The same way they will with NFL, NBA , MLB athletes
I'm a fan of Wilders personality and I root for him because of his daughter's struggles but can we please stop with the race BS...
