Can Shields get Rigo back to the top or is he too old to comeback?

Next month it will have been a year since Rigo fought. At his age that is not acceptable. His best would would have been to fight 3 months after that fight to try to erase that stigma. He doesnt have much time remaining in the sport and a year lost is some decent paydays lost.
the legend...
"i dont know why americans would root against their own fighter"..
and then most picked rigo (based on skin color) over donaire lol. yeah be mad at this post lol.
My Cuban friends felt the same way but they seem to be somewhat excited about him training alongside Lara. Told them Loma was gonna smash him but when he quit they flipped.
No shame in losing, especially to the bigger, younger, at least equally talented man. But making no effort whatsoever after you’ve signed on is inexcusable. I couldn’t care less if Rigo was training alongside Ali, Dempsey, Robinson, whoever. The truth is, Guillermo allowed his best years to waste away. There’s really nothing left.
I stopped caring about Rigo after the Lomachenko “fight.” Finally lost all respect. I would’ve had much higher regard for him if he got knocked out cold in the first round.

That's odd to say the least. Back when I was in high school Rigondeaux would train down at Savannah's in Houston with Ronnie Shields back when he was training his fighters out of there before moving to Plex out in Sugar Land.
I guess Rigondeaux is linking back up with Shields. Hopefully it turns out good for him.
