What happened to Jerwin Ancajas?

I don't pay a LOT of attention to the lower weights, but I remember him wrecking Jamie Conlan and putting on a few other decent performances. Was talked about as a potential rising star. Just looked on BoxRec, and his last two fights were a competitive decision win over a 14-3 fighter, and a draw against a 16-2-4 fighter. Wtf happened?

He fought good fighters with deceiving records and underestimated them Exactly this. People judging these opponents when they’ve probably never watched them. Sultan was coming off an impressive win over 2 weight world champion John Riel Casimero and was mandatory challenger. That was a good win for Ancajas. Barrios was admittedly a little more undiscovered, but had been competitive and arguably beat solid guys like Nieves and Martinez. He clearly beat Ancajas as well IMO, definitely deserves a rematch.

I didn't know they were gone because my old lady is Filipina and I watch ABS-CBN News and Sports nightly. Forgot to add Nonito Donaire Jr, who beat Ryan Burnett of Northern Ireland for the WBA bantamweight title. Bob Arum, says IBF super flyweight champ Jerwin Ancajas, is facing a show down against WBC champ and consensus number one Srisaket Sor Rungvisai Feb/March of 2019. I don't call that a disappearing act.

I think he had an off night. It happens to even the best fighters. Honestly, everyone expected more from him. I believe his next fight will be with Rungvisai. That fight is a scary one. It will probably make or break his career. Rungvisai is a beast!

Could be a case if jot taking his opponents seriously, but he is in talks to face rungvisai early next year.
