Whats Canelo's tv deal in Mexico? Could this be why there's talk of a homecoming fight for him next year?
maybe not including Mexico. He has a contract with azteca
Maybe they have ownership once it completes because he did speak about Mexico in particular. He basically said they have no immediate plans to setup DAZN there however now canelo deal is done it would be something they would consider
DAZN CEO confirmed the deal was global rights and they could sell to any country on or show within their own app as they wished.
If your going to pay 365 mil you ain’t going to let him go sell for even more though are you!maybe not including Mexico. He has a contract with azteca
Ah, so Canelo has a deal with a Mexican cable TV aswell, could DAZN replace that? With the free tv deal remaining. Wouldnt be as lucrative as 100% rights to his fights though.
that could be an option in the future, not just for canelo but also other big fights... a lot of hardcore fans in mexico, so it could be a really good deal when even female boxing gets big ratings...
Brazil is in Latin America.
The difference is that a Latin American DAZN would be in Spanish, and a Brazilian DAZN in Portuguese. Cheers for the contribution though
i cant complain, if im in mexico for the weekend (which i am most weekends) i get to watch it for free , an extra minute in between rounds it really isnt as bad, it gives you time to go grab another beer or take a piss, etc... but there is also the chance of watching thru cable tv with only one minute of ads...

The advertising is crazy in Mexico the announcer instead of calling the fights they have them selling Chevy trucks motor oil chips and college courses during the rounds with big pop ups all over the screen
Ah, got ya. Cheers
Not a bad idea. In the end, fans get it for free, just with ads. Decent trade off.

the delay has always been there for live fights on main events, since the tv has to put ads in between rounds, so instead of the usual 1 minute in between, you get 2 minutes of ads, so even if the fight starts at the same time it will end 12 minutes later if it goes to 12 rounds, its always been like that for big fights where they depend on sponsors to pay for it...

When did he say about a delay, when he signed with DAZN? Sounds like a foresight into his fights being on free tv on some kind of a delay.

DAZN wont affect his fights in mexico, at least in the near future, he had an agreement with DAZN to keep his fights in mexico free on national tv, even if there is like a 10 or 15 minute delay , canelo said "that was very important for him to continue to give fans his fights for free"..

He is already with Azteca in Mexico. The DAZN deal is his US, Canada and some other countries. Not all countries where DAZN is located.

I've never heard details of his Mexican TV deals. I'd be surprised if DAZN didn't offer Canelo a deal for his Mexican rights when his current TV deal is up doe.
Canelo seems to be a very patriotic Mexican guy. He most likely wouldn't marginalize the Mexican networks in favor of this app.
One thing to go with DAZN in the US where American HBO PPV was the standard process. Other is to do that in Mexico and alienate the Mexican tv giants. Mexican networks will always get first dibs I would guess.

Would be insane if you're a soccer and boxing fan. All for 10 bucks a month!
Right now they currently have Chilean soccer, which is garbage. Put on some real football from the stronger latin countries.
He can get a percentage on subscribers he brings in. I see Hearn talking about it, when he was asked how they could attract PPV guys.
Actually heres the video
Kind of what everyone else is saying is what I’m getting at.
Besides, how does one determine Canelo as the reason for subscribing? The month of his fight? Day?

I’m not sure how that works or if he’d get money from it. For all we know its just his 365 mil and whatever deals DAzN makes are for dazn?
