Eddie Hearn and AJ: " We don't want to fight wilder in America, because we don't want to leave the UK we want to make the UK the capital of boxing"
Eddie Hearn and AJ: "we would love to fight jarrell Miller in America"
I know a chicken when I see one.
Stopped reading when you said “I don’t have a dog in this fight” and then produced a wall of text
Well that only goes to show what kind of a moron you are when you think that an unbiased boxing fan's opinion on a topic concerning boxing has less value than some love-sick fanboy who will cheer and support "their" guy endlessly in complete disregard of facts and logic. Though on a forum such as this I can't exactly say I'm surprised.
And if you think that five short paragraphs constitutes a "wall of text", then, well, that says more about you than it does me. Try reading a book sometime, I think it would be an enlightening experience for you.
He had two “80k shows” last year, and endorsement deals like crazy. He only made $47 mil??
All amounts are relative of course Rexy, but for many professional athletes only midway through their productive cycle that's a decent amount. Particularly as the commercial relationships which are being nurtured can be lucrative long after the fighter hangs up their gloves.
The point I was making, which, with respect give your question I don't think you've quite grasped, is that seeking to relentlessly drive that figure upwards via gate or ppv prices is a mistake which has cost US boxing and US boxing fans dearly.
Maybe in revenue terms if you're staging it in Vegas and selling to high rollers.
Unfortunately this shortsighted greed is what promoters in the US have been doing for years now and it's left Boxing in one of it's worst positions relative to US sport in general.
Joshua fights in front of 80 thousand people, which creates a fantastic spectacle for tv, makes a massive impact on social media, encourages the sale of commercial partnerships, all of which in turn help generate more revenue for Team Joshua.
e earned $47m last year, not just from gates and tv sales from fights but from the additional revenue he's able to generate from building a true mass audience.
Sometimes chasing every last dollar isn't the smart move.

So 90,000 at Wembley Stadium is a "small pond", is it? I don't have a dog in this fight, I like both Joshua and Wilder, but the fact is that Joshua has a better resume than Wilder in half the amount of fights. He generates immeasurably more revenue for his fights and he holds nearly all of the world title belts at heavyweight and is considered the consensus number one in the division.
If Joshua goes to America and fights Jarrell Miller, it will be a fight merely to showcase Joshua to the American audience up close and personal. It will be a fight in New York against a New Yorker, one who can talk and sell a fight but probably won't offer too much of a threat of actually defeating Joshua.
Now, if Joshua fights Wilder, it's for all of the marbles. It's to determine who is undisputedly the best heavyweight in the world (providing Deontay gets past Fury, of course). That fight makes most sense in the UK. It will be by far both Wilder's highest purse and the largest crowd he has ever fought in front of, and he would be silly to argue otherwise.
Joshua is the A-side, Joshua is the one who brings the star power in this fight and that he why he will dictate the terms of the fight. As to your comparison with Calzaghe and Lewis, they did not have the star power to bring the best fighters of their weight class over to the UK, hence they had to travel to the US to get their biggest fights. They were big fish in a small pond, Joshua is not and that is the difference.
Again, I'm not picking sides nor am I biased - I'm just telling it how it is. I just wanna see the best fighters face each other - regardless of who wins - and that means we will hopefully get to see the winner of Wilder-Fury face off against Joshua in the not-too-distant future to finally determine an undisputed champion at heavyweight.

The plan all along should have been AJ fights Miller in the U.S. for exposure, and Wilder fights Whyte in U.K. for exposure. Then fight one another in U.K. since AJ is clearly the A-side. Wilder fighting Fury in U.S. is ok, but honestly, Wilder still isn't a household name, and fighting Fury in L.A. is not going to help change that all so much. He should have fought Fury in U.K. and get fans across the pond to notice him.
That was the obvious route. Obviously it would've built the fight but it would also have benefitted Wilder I think. Especially if they could've agreed the contracts and then worked together on the two fights leveraging Joshua's reach and in the process introducing more US casuals to Wilder. Everyone concerned would've stood to benefit.
When Eddie Hearn suggested it there was a cacophony of 'He's using Whyte as a bodyguard' responses from people who are apparently very, very thick.
Didn't read the whole thing but when you have to sell tickets and PPVs for less than half of what they do in the states, yea, it's a small pond.
I'm not even a Wilder fan or a nationalist. I'm just calling it like it is and not being fooled by promoter BS like these clown fanboys.
:lol1:
Hey guys he said his catchphrase again!

Hearn never said the **** that's in the title, you're spreading false information and twisting someone's words to fit your own little narrative...pathetic
hearn said a while ago he'll make aj wilder in the UK for the UK fans, he'd put AJ miller in the US with the soul purpose of raising AJ's profile in the US
90,000 in the UK = maybe 10,000 in the usa

Your argument is totally without facts, there are more millons of people of in us compared to england so he is only big in UK and Europe does not mean America which 10 tens times bigger than england.
Wilder gets 50% or no deal no A side he has a title AJ needs pay him go back to defending against Whyte, Miller he wont be undisputed champion a year on:sad6: Yet Wilder can go 50-0 fighting tomato cans but will be TBE record Mayweather:feedback:
That's the point Rudy. AJ doesn't need to pay him. AJ has lots of options to earn massive amounts of money, he can pick and choose. Of course Wilder can continue to add to his illustrious record and he will no doubt find some people who buy into it. It won't cut much ice amongst those who understand the sport though.

Joshua can and will come to America when he chooses, but he makes more money in the us at the moment. I agree that a fight in New York vs Miller makes sense because you will get a number travel across from the uk and it will be a good tester for his market appeal.
Would you gamble the money being earned for a wilder fight? I’m not so sure that makes any sense.
Added to that wilders team ain’t negiotiating yet and they recently confirmed that the fight will happen when “al haymon wants the fight to happen”.
We do know AJ offered wilder a 2 fight deal, one uk and rematch in America with a 35% split. Obviously Deontae refuses to discuss the offer though.
The original argument was that Joshua is a big fish in a small pond. Was Klitschko also a big fish in a small pond because every top contender had to go to Germany to fight him on his "home turf" rather than him fighting in the US? No. He was the champion, he filled the stadiums, he dictated the terms. Now Joshua is in that same position.
If he was a big fish in a small pond, that would mean he has nobody worthy to fight in the UK and would have to travel in order to challenge himself. That is not the case. He brought Klitschko over, he brought Povetkin over, and one day he will likely bring Wilder over (or whoever might take Wilder's place). Sorry to break it to you, but boxing does not revolve around the United States - certainly not in this day and age. It's a global sport, and right now if you want to become the number one at heavyweight you're probably gonna have to travel to the UK to do it.
Spot on bro. You are grounded in the sport. You know the intoto.
That has nothing to do with the original argument and actually bolsters the argument that there's more money flowing in the US because they can get ridiculous PPV and ticket prices but the britts are cheap. I do international business and no other country gives me such a hard time, or buys the cheapest items possible, as the UK.
I'm not bashing them for that though. I'm thrifty myself so I totally respect that. I don't buy overpriced ppvs. Fact is though, most Americans seem ok to throw away their money on ahyt like that. Ask the 2 million that bought Mayweather /McGregor.
With all these free money flying in the US, I wonder why they never place wilder, their best HW rep on ppv? Do they hate him that much to only want to watch him for free after 40 fights and 7 title defences.
90,000 in the UK = maybe 10,000 in the usa
It's too bad for boxing fans. Few Celebrities are taking over boxing in the US to the detriment of the casual fans.
Unlike the UK, every fan is afforded an opportunity for a live stadium fight experience. This is how to promote the sport.
The US market is killing boxing by extortion.
It's actually hard for some guys here to accept that the hub of HW division now resides in the UK.
Many have tried countless times to convince the fans but facts don't lie.
UK rules the HW division at the moment. until things change, it will continue to remain so.
