Many Eastern Euros are well schooled fighters that use their brain well during a match, and I see a lot of jitter in Jacobs when he fights. I can see something hard and str8 landing on Jacobs tonight from a well timed shot. But Lets see if Dere can take a punch from Jacobs. Sometimes Jacobs doesnt seem to get full leverage in his shots so i don't think his power is consistent with his punches.
Haven't seen enough of Derevyanchenko to say, let alone seen him fight anyone good but everyone has to have their first significant win at some point, so can't say he won't win because of his record.
it's an intriguing one in that respect.
my head says the technician TKOs jacobs in a big upset... my heart says jacobs wins a decision...just because hes such a likable guy its hard to root against him.
The very small amount of sparring I saw it looks like Derevyanchenko was pushing Jacobs around. Jacobs is good at fighting backwards but not so good when he's pushed back. I thought he gave up too much ground against Golovkin on occasion in their fight even though I still thought he won. It's going to be a tough fight but Jacobs should be victorious. If the popular belief is he's going to win, it doesn't matter if it's a 10% chance or a 100%.
Jacobs the edge because of his greater experience in the pro game and in a big fight environment, but this is gonna be a difficult fight to score IMO. Two high level fighters who know each others tricks and feints inside out and are good enough to neutralise em... I'm not expecting a barnburner, but a cagey, tactical fight with neither guy leaving many openings and a lot of close rounds, maybe heating up towards the end.
Gonna be a judges nightmare I think but I got Danny by close UD - thing is I'm more like 70 / 30 in favour of Danny to win even though the fight won't look like a 70 /30 fight, if that makes sense? Danny with the slightly flashier work and (perhaps) the favoured guy will make it slightly easier to score the close rounds (and there will be lots) for him.
Jacobs has the height and reach advantage. He's fought the tougher competition. At home.. So he should be the favorite..
My concern is Jacobs has gotten clipped a few times by lesser dudes. I've got money on Jacobs..
I'm hoping he fights a smart fight. Uses his jab and height to his advantage..
Jacobs seems to be a bigger favorite than I figured. I was thinking like 60/40 or 55/45 Jacobs.I make Jacobs a 4 to 1 favorite. I thought GGG beat Jacobs but Jacobs made it close. I thought GGG beat Canelo both fights and is the best middleweight in the world. Jacobs and Canelo are tied for the 2nd best middleweights in the world in my opinion. The Russian is very good but I doubt he can beat Jacobs.
Problem with Derevy is we haven't seen him step up yet so we don't know his ceiling. Really hard to gauge at the moment.
Yeah, this. Jacobs can be sort of hit or miss as well.
Checking the betting odds Jacob's is about -190 and Derevyanchenko +155
Odds are pretty tight there..
Other fights coming up
Usyk -800
Bellew +500
Burnett -1200
Donaire +700
Derevyanchanko hasn't fought anyone. Tomorrow he steps in the deep end and we will find out if he's for real or not.
Gotta give Jacob's the edge goin in to the fight.
Jacobs should be a big favorite i haven't seen anything special when watching dude fight. Still can't figure out why ggg didn't take him for May fight. Figured it would've been an easy W
I say 60/40 in favor of Jacobs.
Have a feeling we see the GHOST of Pirog flow thru Derevyanchenko on Sat. Doe.
Danny's chin is still in question for me.
(Dude got dropped by my homie "Latin Snake" 4 fuccs sake)
