UFC/MMA biggest 2018 event doubled boxing 2018 biggest event in terms of PPV sales.
Canelo vs Golovkin 2 did 1.1 million PPV sales. Wilder vs Fury is expected to do at most 500,000 PPV sales while Mcgregor vs Khabib did at least 2 million PPV sales.

Plus PPV cuts, some said that McGregor could take up to 50 million but I would assume it to be somewhere around 20-35 million more likely
Dana said Conor would make 70mil if it hit 2.5.
and they both got payed $2m and $3m each
LMAO PENNIES

The fight did just under 2.4 M Buys. According to Dave Meltzer https://www.mmafighting.com/2018/10/11/17962158/ufc-229-khabib-vs-mcgregor-destroys-previous-mma-record-for-pay-per-views
This cements McGregor as the biggest combat sports star in the world, with Mayweather retired. But even if Mayweather comes back, a rematch with Pacquiao wouldn't even be able to sniff these numbers.
Canelo vs. Golovkin couldn't put up these numbers either.
This is true. Mcgregor is the A side PPV Star for combat sports like it or not. If khabib and mcgregor rematch it will sell even more than the first time. I read somewhere that khabib gained 8 MILLION new instagram followers in 48 hours.
I can't think of too many times were that happened in boxing. The one that comes to mind was Lewis vs. Rahman. I didn't remember much of the details of the first fight. It was competitive up until the KO. But it was well known, and I do remember this, that Lewis took Rahman totally for granted and was ill prepared for the altitude. Rahman was a huge underdog. Lewis was hoping for Tyson but he got suspended. I can understand why Lewis overlooked Rahman (though this isn't a justification for losing).
I don't think McGregor can say anything of the kind. This was a big fight and he should have been prepared. That fight wasn't competitive in any way. This wasn't some underdog who beat his butt this was the champion. He can't use the he wasn't prepared or he overlook him excuse.
If Conor has another fight or two and looks good then go for it, get back in the ring and show the world what he is made of. But based on what we saw in that fight a rematch isn't needed at this point. Not saying it won't happen right away because of the money but on its merits absolutely not.
There are many. Simon Brown/Terry Norris comes to mind. Many in MMA too...!!! McGregor was out of the octagon since 2016. It took Khabib the wrestler 4 rounds to submit him. If Conor wants an immediate rematch he will get it. But I agree with a lot of what you say.

The only fight that could potentially surpass Pac-Mayweather would be McGregor vs Mayweather in an MMA match (exact same rules no exceptions).
No fight out there right now in either boxing or UFC that will beat FM-Pac or even McGregor-FM.

great figures, mostly based on mcgregor before he made millions boxing but hes unproven now, that performance was poor and he needs to fight a contender or two to re establish himself but since money talks he may get his rematch immediately, but i think he needs a fight or two, he looks rusty in there to me, no sharpness, too easy to takedown
I’ve seen champions in both boxing and MMA get their asses whipped one-sidedly and come back and win the rematch. This isn’t one of those permanent “he can’t win” type of fights.

I don’t disagree. That said based on his actual performance in that fight he isn’t worthy. But yeah money talks.

A champion as great as Conor will get a rematch if he wants it. Money talks.

Conor can go fight someone else and prove he has what it takes first. Whatever the case the guy who stepped in that ring wasn’t just beat he was destroyed. Not saying there won’t be an immediate rematch but no one watching that fight could say he deserved a rematch based on that performance.
Honestly I really don’t care. I have no hate or dislike of either guy. Just call it as I see it.

Actually the average age of boxing fans and UFC fans is essentially the same. UFC fanbase has aged drastically..

because this study points out on its own the massive flaw in it's methodology; that it only samples TV audiences and that there has been an exodus from TV viewership by young people
NEXXXT
It took him 4 rounds to beat a Conor who hadn’t fought an mma fight since 2016. I do need to see a rematch.

It was a total destruction. The Conor who showed up for that fight would lose every time to the Khabib who showed up.
It would only be rematchable if Conor fought someone before and proved something. The only reason this fight might be made again is because of the post fight controversy, because nothing that happened in the ring warranted a rematch.

Hes danas cash cow whatever he wants he gets. he'll get rag dolled again maybe even worse in the rematch.
If Conor won the third it was just barely as he was taking plenty of punishment on the feet and was against the cage for at least a solid minute. He had nothing really..
You right if he won it was barely. Frankly it was a non event round. One of those toss up rounds or rounds they should score 10-10 but never do at least in boxing.
