Oscar went 6-4 above 147
I count only 3 losses above 147 and they were to a top 5 all timer in Mayweather at 154, one of the top 3 middle weights of all time in Bernard Hopkins at 160, and a super controversial loss to Hall of famer Mosely at 154 in a fight he landed 100 more punches than Mosely.
De la Hoya was still great above 147, and when he was a little older 154 was his best weight.
As for the topic at hand. De La Hoya wins at 154 or below and it's really close at 160. Remember, De la Hoya was holding his own vs Hopkins before the liver shot ended the fight. Canelo has more of his story to write, but right now De la Hoya had a better career.
Canelo by KO being well ahead on points at the time of the KO. In my opinion a prime Oscar can't last with the complete fighter Canelo has become in these last two fights with GGG. He has improved tremendously. I think he would slaughter the Mayweather who beat him and the Trout and Lara and Cotto he fought earlier. He is just that much better now. He was always good but he has become great. Those wicked body punches would flat ruin Oscar.
De La Hoya would win. He has too much speed of hand and foot. It would be eerily similar to Mayweather vs Canelo without the shoulder roll. However, De La Hoya would use his legs to create enough distance in order to avoid the counters of Ginger.
Too tall long and fast imagine canelo just letting Oscar tee off like ggg did.... Oscar would'nt of been so ***** and let him taste a hook early and often for the disrespect....

I think Canelo looks a bit better acclimated above 154 where he'd end up beating Oscar up. At 154 I'd still favor Canelo but a very close decision in a fight he falls behind. Hypothetical p4p since Oscar peaked at 147 I'd pick Oscar due to speed and movement. He'd win close.
If canelo can't slip ggg jab, how is canelo gonna do something about Oscar left hand..do some of y'all watch boxing, do y'all not understand the skill and fundamental gaps y'all see before your eyes comparing eras....
A fighter like canelo was tailor made for Oscar at his best....
Firstly and lastly canelo is a lil dude to Oscar have you seen there pics together

He was an ATG at the lower weights. Yeah he was still good when he moved up but not close to Young DLH
Canelo at 154 and up is too big for any Oscar
Maybe, but saying De La Hoya wasn't very good at 154 is just false, but his best weight was probably 140-147, yes.
Not true, he was a very good fighter at 154.
