In the first bout between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez. Golovkin supposedly out-boxed and out-jabbed Canelo Alvarez by landing more punches, particularly jabs. And Golovkin is considered to be a devastating knock-out artist by majority of his fans and by a vast majority of the members from the boxing community.
But the million dollar question is, why was the pale skinned face of Canelo Alvarez barely marked or visibly damaged after the fight? Surely, if Golovkin was such a devastating puncher and landed so many jabs on Canelo, Canelo should have had a more visibly damaged and marked up face. Correct? Even more so, considering Canelo's face is relatively pale which means, easier to mark up. But still, Canelo's face was barely marked after the fight and outside of minor scratches (that looked like the scratches a baby would inflict on his father), he looked the same as he looked before the fight.
So what is it? Either Golovkin is a feather fist and lacks power to inflict damage on opponents like Canelo Alvarez, despite landing as many jabs as he supposedly landed. Or, Golovkin in reality did not out-jab or out-box Canelo Alvarez because he kept missing and failed to connect enough times on Canelo Alvarez's face to visibly mark his pale skinned face enough.
What was even more alarming, was Golovkin's face being more marked up and visibly damaged than Canelo Alvarez's face.
This is the pair of them, just after their fight during their respective interviews:

So if Golovkin really did out-jab and out-box Canelo Alvarez, then why couldn't he inflict more visible damage on Canelo's face, considering his supposed devastating knockout power??
oh no we understand that
we just don't put 2-3x as much weight into a landed jab for golovkin as you all want to
Curt as you typed this you know your full of BS..
Power punches to the head and body >>>>>> jabs. I like GGG, and he fought his heart out in that late rally, and it was a close fight. But it’s clear as day who came with a better game plan and who inflicted more damage.
Anyone trying to make the argument that jabs do more damage then power shots and body shots has lost all sense of reality. And ironic GGG before fighting canelo was the killer power puncher and arguably the most devestating body puncher but now that he can't land those shots and canelo is dominating him in both areas these pitty pat jabs hurt more? GGG face is looking bad in these fights worse then we ever seen him look and canelo face isn't even worse then we seen in fights against smaller weaker punchers then GGG. Why? Because the disparity in power shots canelo is landing and GGG can't land. Power punches > Jabs

short but to the point....I feel the same way

He's attempting to say that the jab that GGG throws which touches Canelo's face with him leaning down and back to get away from it indicates the serious pain and damage that was received.
It's really just a good fighter with reflexes reacting to mitigate being caught in an awkward position and preparing to throw an uppercut in return.
Pay attention plz. He gets hit with the jab then gets low. He walked into it flush, there was no mitigation.
GGG fans before he faced Canelo he a killer too powerful. After fighting canelo he landing all the power shots and destroying GGG face it's now let's just count the jabs and ignore everything else and pretend jabs hurt more then power punches LMAO

Went from Mexican Style to Thriller Style
hahaha...yup
It has to be counted as a scoring punch when it lands which you guys appear not to understand.

golovkins jab is the best punch in boxing....not the best weapon or p4p best punch
but if you listen to g's fans his jab should count as 2-3 punches every time he throws it...whether it lands or not...so it must be the best

Yeah all I saw were two guys missing punches..

You think that left hook slap did more damage than the Golovkin jab I posted?
That tells us all we need to know then.
Yeah I do as well as about 8 punches in this sequence alone of GGG taken huge shots to the body and face
Canelo shows GGG how to fight mexican style from r/Boxing
It's simple GGG jabs aren't doing as much punishment as canelo power shots it ain't rocket science.
Power > Jabs
It's also why GGG face was so phuked up like we never seen GGG face look after a fight while canelo has been marked up worse against much smaller less powerful fighters. Because canelo landed whatever he wanted and owned the power punches and GGG only outlanded canelo is jabs. LMAO
Don't get the significance of this sequence. Nothing much happened here.

Lol this thread is funny. If you're really a boxing fan you would know everyone marks differently. I'm see guys take a beating and look ok at the end of the fight. You ever seen Canelo marked up bad in any other fight?
Jabs doe lol

Crappy weak assed slapping hook by Canelo. Didn't land flush and what did land was with the inside of the glove. LOL.. Thanks for showing that..

If Golovkin jab was as weak as you say Canelo would have walked right through them. Didn't see that happening. Golovkin is 36 years old and has huge amounts of fights. Its not unusual for a fighter that age to swell up. And yes he got hit plenty.
Jabs doe lol
