NEW US TV platform DAZN had boxing's biggest budget for all of five minutes but now the real big money men in the sport have bitten back in America. This week Al Haymon struck the richest TV deal in the sport's history with Fox Sports and Showtime to ensure he still puts on the biggest fights Stateside. DAZN had hoped to pick off some of the talent from Haymon's stable for their new subscription streaming service. Click Here To Read More]
It will be very interesting given that the people behind Perform Group/DAZN have a lot of financial backing, which gives them the ability to get the rights to provide content like the NFL in other countries.
But in other countries NFL isn't nearly as big. NFL is THE sport in the states and that is never going to change. Disney/CBS/Etc aren't giving those up.
The problem is it won't be for a few months, will be much longer. In the States, you need basically the NBA and NFL or maybe the MLB. Those rights don't open up for a while. 2021 and 2022 is when they do. So yeah, definitely will be far longer wait than a few months.
But when the bids open? Will be interesting to see what happens.

So UK guys aren't gonna miss any of these DAZN fights? Sky is gonna show all the Tevin, Boo Boo & Jessie Vargas fights along with the 3 WBSS tournaments this year? Or is the WBSS not part of it since its not part of Eddie's moves with DAZN?
That seems like a lot of extra boxing, even w/o the WBSS, Sky is gonna be showing if thats correct.
Think from Joshua/Povetkin to Christmas hes got only 2 weekends he aint doing a card. 12 cards, can knock him for other ****, but not for how hard he works.

Yeah any fights involving Eddie Hearn are shown on Sky Sports. However , great fights like Danny Garcia vs Porter are shown on boxnation( A channel set up by Frank Warren) and even the GGG vs Canelo rematch is being shown on BT sport. A direct rival of Sky sports . Which Frank Warren has cleverly gone into partnership with.
Doesn't he have to claim Usyk for Sky or DAZN doe for the sake of the money Sky & DAZN are giving him?
Or are they sharing Usyk & all these other guys in general? So Tevin might even show up on a Sky card or a Sky PPV undercard?
Basically in the U.K. there is no Dazn so any fight connected with Hearn will always be shown on Sky. Usyk vs Bellew if made will most likely take place in U.K. so will be shown on Sky and shown to the US viewers via Dazn I imagine. Same as the Joshua fight. Like wise fights that are made in the US like the October 6th card which is live on Dazn we will watch via Sky sports.

If he got to a point where his stable was big enough I could see the US fighters going to fight in the UK, Sims Jr already fought in the UK. Could see those 3 amatuers he signed going over to the UK aswell. Hes spread so thin at the moment though its not feasible. Hes having to fill US cards with UK guys, which Im sure he didnt originally plan to do.
Usyk will be signed to Matchroom, fight Bellew on Sky PPV, DAZN pays a rights fee, his purse will come from all that. Then say Ward comes out of retirement, Hearn has a budget of $12mil on one of his big cards, purses come out of that, plus ticket sales and what not.
As long as Hearn delivers, dont see any problems. Itll be on trust. If he doesnt deliver on subs, theyll start reigning in his budget.
Of course they won't come out and say what the exact terms are, however, read the following:
"Those 16 shows will go along with the 16 cards a year Hearn promotes in the U.K. on broadcast partner Sky Sports. All 32 cards, plus the four or five cards Hearn has on Sky Box Office pay-per-view each year in the U.K., will be part of the DAZN boxing offerings in the U.S. for a monthly subscription fee that has not yet been announced, but one that won't require a contract."
Now ask yourself, "How much are the US rights worth for an AJ fight? A Usyk v. Bellew fight? A Whyte v. Chisora fight?"
I think people are missing that point. A significant portion of the budget is going to be used to pay AJ's US rights fee twice per year (along with other guy's fights). So whatever Showtime gave them, just know DAZN is putting more in that bucket.
Now, when you take a step back and realize what's going on, you see that the money isn't all going to be used for "US fighters." It's fair to assume $15 - $20 million will go right back into the Matchroom UK bucket as a part of those fight budgets.
Now, my info on what the deals true budget is for the US fighters and the escalators is coming from insider info. However, if you just look at what fighters are saying, I think it's clear he's not throwing ridiculous money at them. Which explains why he's only been able to grab guys in the 100k - 500k per fight range. He's not guaranteeing $5 million per fight or anything close to that right now. That's why nobody signed.
How much did Hearn offer Broner again?
Does this mean Usyk isn't with DAZN, he's with Sky? I didn't read that story & just assumed he was gonna be on the DAZN platform.
Theyre both the same thing really. What US fights could he have? Try to get Ward, Miller, maybe Parker in the US. Or he could go Bellew, Chisora/Whyte and Joshua all on UK PPV. Theyd all be on DAZN though. Hearn got a lot of options for him.
Of course it is because you are a boxing fan but a reasonable person should not expect a casual fan to subscribe to a online streaming service of fighters that they don't know.
People don’t understand the DAZN business model. If you actually listen to them their initial plan is not to attract casual fans. They initial plan is to get the hardcore fans to signup. There longer term plan is to add other sports alongside “fighting” which will then start bringing more fans of other sports; casual fans maybe of boxing at the same time. They are building step by step - and already have done it in other countries. Time will tell if they can repeat it in the US.
The fact that he refers to Frank putting on great shows in the 90’s tells you all you need to know. A Frank Warren fan yet he can only talk about memorable cards that took place over 20 years ago.
Warren is a loser has been sued by almost all his big fighters other the years and possibly shot by one.
Warren is not in Hearns league simple.
Interesting.
Randomly how much Tevin & Boo Boo or any of the others getting, fact or allegedly, for these 3 fight deals? How much is Usyk getting?
I'd have thought Andrade would be around $1mil, Saunders getting $2.4mil. Usyk will most likely end up on 3 PPVs, he'll be getting a lot.
Top 10 pound for pound boxer according to the Ring magazine, like Naoya Inoue who also boxes on DAZN. Do you not watch boxing?
Still don’t know the guy, squit!!!!
Mr Pennis...
from your previous comments and this i can only assume you know nothing about boxing. I thought you might be trying to be funny but that requires intelligence as well. USKY is the undisputed Cruiserweight World Champion, a top top signing.
Also if you are a boxing fan then competition to stage fights and promote them can only be a good thing for boxers pay ...and the fact we should see more fights.. whats the issue.
Hey idiot, I need more details, still don’t know who this dude is
