This guy fights again in October, ramping up the caliber of opponent.
Gatekeeper Kevin Johnson is up next.
For those who don't know the UK scene that well, this kid is a very good up and comer. A threat to any of the current top dogs, in my opinion. Remember the name.
Anthony Yarde is ready to step it up at LH, another good one but needs to get a big fight soon.
There’s a difference between what you are saying I am saying and what I am actually saying.
You can’t possibly predict how good he is based on his fights so far, unless you’ve been watching him sparring and been around his training camps. There just isn’t enough information.
Basically you are guessing, but coming across like you are 100% sure. As he moves through a few levels you’ll see some aspects of his game tested and you can be more sure that when he gets to the top he will be ready. Guys like Tom Little are not providing that test.
Martin Bakole and Nathan Gorman have beaten better fighters, arguably more impressively so far, are all three of these guys going to make t to word title levels? Extremely unlikely and impossible to predict
Fair enough.
I saw Gorman at a show in Blackpool a little while back and was underwhelmed honestly. I think Dubois would beat him without too much issue right now. They should look at making that fight soonish imo.
Cool. So you’ll erm, label him good when he, well, shows that he’s good?
I’m saying it NOW.
This kid will be a world champion

That’s fine mate no issues with you saying that. Dubois looks great, but I personally need to see a bit more before I jump two feet in

Not sure I’d describe Johnson as gatekeeper, but he’s an excellent opponent for Dubois at this stage. Coming off a TKO win over Pianeta, and decision losses to Pulev and Andy Ruiz jnr. He’ll do everything better than all Dubois’ opponents so far
Yeah, fair enough... I wondered myself about calling KJ a ‘gatekeeper’ but anyway, my point was about him being a step up - which you seem to agree with. Hope some of these guys will fight each other, and more than just two
Fights a year as well
With someone as young as Dubois I don't have a problem with Frank Warren bringing him along slowly, he does look talented and obviously his opposition will get better.
Personally I'd like him to wait up to two years before fighting Gorman, let them both progress a bit first, become more well known and you've got a big British heavyweight fight.
I'm sure most here have heard stories about his sparring sessions but don't forget he apparently quit a sparring session against Bakole, sparring is sparring anyway and different from a fight.
Joe Joyce on the other hand is the wrong side of 30 and needs David Haye put some good money up to get him a big fight and he needs it asap really.
There's a good new crop of British heavyweights coming through which is good, when the heavyweights are thriving its always good for boxing in general.
Put him in against Joyce and the winner will emerge as a player on the big scene.
He doesn't have to fight Joyce yet. Dubois is a baby in comparison and doesn't need to be rushed like Joyce does. Hopefully they can set the gorman fight up and we'll see where both of them are.
Thought he'd fight Nathan Gorman... nah of course not, he'll fight another tomato can instead. Lol @ that muppet calling a 45-year-old Kevin Johnson a gatekeeper. Which gate is he keeping then? He's a US clubfighter.

Did that tube really just say "world belt holder in 30 months"? Obviously hasn't paid attention to how slowly Frank Warren moves these fighters.

Mate, the whole point of pointing out what you believe is a good prospect is to do so BEFORE they are recognized by everyone.
So yes, I agree- English level etc at the moment, but that’s the point. If you’re gonna flag someone as potentially champ you’re more astute the earlier you do it. You’re not sold on him yet, and I believe he’s going to be a word belt holder in the next 30 months. Let’s see.

Way, way too early...
A lot of people I know down south are really high on this kid and I’ve heard a lot of stories including him dropping a famous HW who boxed at Finchley. But stories are stories I’ve also heard from a reliable source that Gorman used to regularly beat this kid up in sparring when they boxed at GB. You have to take these things with a pinch of salt though.
I honestly don’t think there is enough evidence either amateur or pro to suggest Dubois is a future world champion, I mean just look at his resume: his best two wins are against guys who couldn’t even win an area title. As I said it’s way too early.
Lets be real he has been operating around English title level up till now so we don’t know anything about him yet in regards to world level let alone world honours.
He looks good to me. A bit stiff some might say but I think it’s more like a Joe Louis kind of stiffness. Very strong base with good footwork, always stays in a balanced position to punch from. His lack of speed could make things more difficult as he moves up and fighters see his punches better.
Him and Gorman are on a similar trajectory and would be great to see them fight soon. Gorman has arguably been more impressive so far to me, but he doesn’t have the physique to get the casuals excited so hasn’t had the hype. He certainly has fought the better opposition barring the Johnson matchup.
Both are extremely young so plenty of time. Doubt we see them hitting top level anytime soon

Just want to clarify something: Lets take two fighters, Fernando Vargas and David Price... The first guy was brought along really carefully and before he fought the best, fought a full career of decent, but unremarkable fighters. The second guy never got a chance to fight up without his opposition knowing his game changing weakness...the tendency to start working as a plumber (looking up at the pipes) when getting hit too hard in the head lol.
If you are a talented new face, like this kid is, you should ask yourself a question: is it better to get up and in the mix asap? or to be brought along slowly? My own opinion is, especially with this crop of guys...I would rather take an L and give a great effort, make sure i am not exposed, than wait fight after fight for the opportunity. This is also where it depends in how well this kid has been taught the science. Can he become really accomplished technically? learn tricks of the trade? Time will tell.
I actually didn't realize he was that young. He's turning 21 in Sept. Could probably fight for the title in a year or two. Plus he's got the right measurements. He's tall enough, he's got a pretty good reach.
