We've all seen this before. Fighters moving up two weight classes getting koed and never being the same. Brooke with GGG is an example. I get the whole reason why he's fighting spence. Better to lose to spence than lomo when everyone can say you had no chance anyways. But I don't think he'll be the same fighter after that fight. It will take a lot out of him. Huge mistake by his team. Lomo will tear him apart after.
LISTEN EVERYONE......Do anyone get the feeling this fight aint gonna happen...I mean Mikey already benefiting from calling out Spence cuz we talking about him.
NO contract....No agreement....And we still talking about a fight that aint close to being signed
That's my belief too. Won't happen.
M. Garcia Vs. Pacquiao is a (given) fight that will outsell anything that Mikey can be involved in at the moment & that includes Vs. Spence.
That said... Team Garcia see "The Truth" as someone they can beat or some flaw that gives them confidence (To jump up) that no current welterweight has had sofar amongst these WW's.
Wont even speak on Loma or Crawford because we all know that story already.

It's looking like he might fight Pacquiao instead.
Duran went up to divisions and defeated one of the best ww of all time. It can be done if the other is a great fighter too, and in his prime.
It amazes me how this lie has spread over the years...Duran had BEEN MOVED UP BEFORE FACING LEONARD..He hadnt fought at lightweight in 2 years and had 8 fights before he fought Leonard at OR ABOVE WW
I favor Spence but I think Garcia is going to exceed expectations when they do finally clash. I can see Spence eventually wearing him down with body work but Mikey is so fundamentally sound that he will make it close and exciting the entire way through. He will win rounds for sure.
Mikey will look like small flabby fatty dude at 147 next to Spence who will be a bigger man and a shredded athlete.
His punches won't go trough Spence guard, as much as Spence is basic as a southpaw (and that's why Mikey want to fight him) he's an amazing athlete and Mikey will get totally outgunned.
Mikey doesn't have the style to box circles around a bigger guy, he will have to go through Spence's fire in order to land his punches. If he can hurt Spence, why not but I don't think so.
I'm going to tell you something dumb but true, if you can't mope the floor with Bunny at 135, you ain't giving Spence a competitive fight at 147 PERIOD
That's whats worrying. It's bound to be an entertaining and intriguing fight but it'll be a shame if a great talent like Garcia has his mojo destroyed in a fight he wasn't expected to make or need.
i dont think it will be a sustained beatdown because the weight disparity is quite big so mikey wont be able to take spence's shots
it'll probably be a body shot ko
mikey did not even begin to do sit-ups until his last fight, body shots do not take as much toll on your career as head blows

He's going to beat Spence, and Loma couldn't even beat Salido who Mikey toyed with.
Whether or not he's the same, it'll take the shine off the loma fight. That's a shame too, cuz that's the fight for divisional supremacy between 2 guys in their primes...not some novelty fight where a guy jumps 2 weight classes with a built in excuse for losing. Spence isn't even the guy at 147 yet either, so I really don't see the point.
Even if he wins against Spence, which I don't think would happen, he would take a career altering punishment. This match up reminds me of Pacquiao vs Margarito, except that Garcia isn't near as athletic, as active, nor has nearly fast footwork as Pacquiao had to escape the bigger man's attacks.

Those who claim a good boxer will never be as good after being KOed are ignoring boxing history. Many old time greats suffered one or more brutal KO defeats and went on to be great champions, Joe Louis, Dempsey, more than once, Archie Moore, Lewis, twice, Wlad, three times, Pacquiao, more than once and an endless list of others.
What you are saying is two weight classes used to be only one weight class. In the past lots of welterweight champions challenged the middleweight champion and nobody was shocked or piss off about it or thought it was a gross unfair mismatch. Sometimes the welterweight champion beat the middleweight champion. Basillo beat Robinson and Griffith beat Dick Tiger. Brook is a poor example. Brook had long outgrown welterweight and probably outweighed GGG in the ring. He didn't get ruined because he was this tiny little guy fighting this huge GGG. GGG was just a much better fighter and a much harder puncher. He broke bones in Brook's face that never healed as good as new. Then Brook returned to welterweight where he was not strong and got crushed again by Spence. That is what ruined Brook not that he fought a middleweight but that he fought the wrong middleweight who ruined his face.Mikey has already won a title at 140 so he is only moving up 7 pounds for Spence. Mikey weighed 149 on fight night for Easter and Spence weighed 156 on fight night his last fight. There is only 7 pounds difference in their respective fight night weights and Mikey will weigh more than 149 on fight night if he fights Spence. SPence should knock Mikey out but not because he is so much bigger. Spence is just a much better fighter who hits much harder, takes a punch much better and throws many more punches per round. Mikey should be able to bounce back from a Spence KO defeat to be as good as he ever was.
Spence comes in to the ring about 165-170 lbs with almost no body fat. Mikey is a lot softer and is about 145 lbs fight night. They are not even close to the same size.
The same 'fighters'? Are you saying Mikey is more than one person?
I guess his massive head is hiding another person / alien inside it like in Independence Day
