I have a feeling in my gut this fight could go the way of the challenger. Normally I don't give the unheralded Brits a chance when going abroad, but this one seems different somehow...
In July we witnessed the fall of Gassiev. In August we witnessed the fall of Kovalev. In September we will witness the fall of Povetkin. In October, might we be witnessing the fall of Beterbiev? Seems like the stars are aligning against dem Ruskies!
Cherrypicking at its finest.

There are many fighters, in all weight classes, from prospects to World champions, who rave about Callum Johnson's heavy hands and strength after having shared a ring with him. Obviously we're talking about behind closed-doors stuff here, but still, when so many people big a person up, there must be some truth to it.
Beterbiev is a monster and Callum Johnson has absolutely zero chance of winning this fight. Zero.
I mean, scientifically speaking I suppose you could say that it is not beyond the realm of possibility, technically, but that's about the most positive thing I can say about his chances.
scotty cardle v Ritson style...doesnt Johnson have Joe Gallagher as his trainer too? trainer of the year my arse :lol1:
:lol1: That's basically what I'm hoping for. All out war for a couple rounds. While it may not have been the best plan for Scotty, I'm glad he did it, cuz that was hilarious to watch lmao
I actually think Johnson has a decent chance, but he has to stop him and probably relatively early like he did against Buglioni. Don't think Beterbiev is some unbeatable monster, he's pretty basic and that chin can be cracked. Callum needs to swing for the fences early and hope he catches him

Would be amazing if Johnson could do it but i just cant see it happening. I think technical ability wise there is not a great deal between them and although Johnson can bang Beterbiev just hits harder, his jabs will rattle Johnson and everything else will start to break Johnson down and send him into some survival mode.
Bit like Canelo GGG, Johnson will start promisingly but he will be feeling the power and will realise even though he can have success matching the Russian he will only be able to take the punishment for so long and will have to back off and if im honest ive only really seen Johnson on the front foot, never seen him fighting on the move and on the retreat.

Based on what???
I like Johnson but this is a cash out. I honestly give him no chance.
Callum’s had well documented physical and personal problems and is looking to get paid before he bows out.
He’s not like aMichael Jennings/Gary Lockett type challenger.
But he’s not gonna win either.
He’ll give it a go.
Agree with this but Beterbiev is a level above Johnson

Lol yeah this is it. He definitely believes he can win I like Calum but beterbiev will have too much for him
Good luck to him but this just seems to me like he is cashing out, He is 33 now, was inactive until his last fight in March 2018, and he seems to be jumping in like Tyson Fury is doing with Wilder. I hope he wins but its difficult to see him doing so.
Callum Johnson lost his father in 2016 and has said he went to some dark places and was on the brink of alcoholism in the immediate aftermath. Don't think his father left his side throughout his whole amateur and pro career. He is now totally focused and wants to achieve his dreams in memory of his dad. I know Beterbiev has a great amateur pedigree, but Callum also has a very good amateur grounding. Won 95 out of about 120 contest, won Gold in the only tournament he participated, the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Yeah i knew about that, every time i have seen him fight hes cried going into, and after all the fights...fair enough i might too if my old man & mentor passed away but the point is, he is too emotional and will get drawn into a war and badly merked.
If he could stay unemotional and focused and box to a gameplan then he would have a slight chance
I thought He was rocked by Buglioni before he got him out of there. Not great sign. Betterbiev just seems too strong for guy like Callum, but fair play for stepping up.
