BLH: Adonis Stevenson vs. Oleksandr Gvozdyk set for December 1st in Montreal

Stevenson's been holding the belt hostage since he's won it. He knocked out Tony Bellew, who went on to win a 200 pound world championship and major fights at heavyweight. He agreed to fight his mandatory, Sergey Kovalev, but Kovalev refused to participate in a purse bid. He agreed to fight WBA champion Badou Jack, who vacated his title in order to take the fight. Nobody's held anything hostage. He's fought the best guys who were willing to fight him, with the exception of Alvarez, who GYM was keeping away from him in hopes they could fight down the road when the fight would mean much more.

Jack put a beating on Stevenson in the later rounds, especially the 12th round. The body shot in the 10th round saved Stevenson or else he was going to get stopped. Jack is really good, but Stevenson is there for the taking. Jack pretty much had to give him the first five or so rounds just being careful and not giving Stevenson any openings. I'm guessing Gvozdyk won't be as patient. Damn good fight. Wonder if SHO does another dual card. FOX is set to put a card in December. So maybe right after the FOX card, SHO airs this fight?

Thankfully for him but unfortunately for us fans Kovalev took a big loss so that kills any plans for a monster fight at light heavyweight. Who knows if he'll be willing to fight Alvarez and Bivol. Donny has been ducking Alvarez for years, and he will never go near Bivol. I'm hoping he gets KTFO so we can have all the belts moving at 175 again

Now officially confirmed by GYM in Montreal medias for Dec. 1st at Videotron Center, Quebec City... Stevenson definitaly wants to build a late legacy...Props to him... :boxing: Also, GYM stated they were working on Kovalev/Alvarez II for the end of January 2019...

Wooo... That would be great.... I hope Alvarez superb win over Kovalev ringed a bell in Stevenson's mind... For the time he got left, he should be taking credible fights and build a legacy... I still believe he is top 2 LHW and I doubt Gvozdyk is better than Jack in any way, so Stevenson by KO in mid rounds...

Good fight. Stevenson is old but still deadly for about 6 rounds or so.

I really think this is exactly what Stevenson needs to get back in form I believe he overlooked and underestimated Jack ( not to mention the ring rust ) Rumour had it that Stevenson really wanted this fight so hopefully he’s excited about it I think he wins and wins big Sure he’s feeling lots of pressure with Alvarez bringing back the belt and the big win to the city I really doubt Stevenson is finished , I think he needed this big boot in the azz to wake him up And not really worried about the stamina , yes he’s been rocked late in fights but imo not cause of his stamina

Stevenson is going to knock this guy out badly.

Good fight :boxing: Stevenson has gone from a quiet title reign to two legit opponents in this and his last outing. Stevenson looked his age a little in his last fight at times, but was still good enough to come back and hurt Jack badly several times. We get to see if Gvozdyk is a good as we hope too. Looking forward it.

How much do you account on Gdyks performance last fight against Stevenson? He looked like crap there. I think he was just going through the motions. Probably bored with the fights since the Chilemba fight. Adonis is dangerous early and Gvozdyk may be a tad chinny so this is intriguing. I expect Gvozdyk to be patient and calm and then take over around the middle rounds and then take Stevenson out. Stevenson has always had questionable stamina and can be hurt.

If Oleksandr is just a little bit better than Jack he will be the new champion and Stevenson will be an ex champ.

Very, very good fight! I didnt think Adonis would take it, but Gvozdyk chin is a little suspect and we know stevenson still has that power that he can end the fight with at any time. If Gvozdyk has him all gassed out like Jack did tho, he will finish him...because Gvozdyk is a hard puncher as well.

In fairness this is a decent fight, Gvozdyk is a dangerous opponent. I think he was the only guy to stop Chilemba. It should be an interesting fight. Definitely. It's unfortunate that people don't know about Gvo. I guess that's because fans just follow the hype train. If I was a LHW contender, Gvo is the last guy I'd wanna face right now. He's got ridiculous accuracy, exceptional footwork and control of distance. He may not be the biggest puncher but his other qualities more than make up for it. He's the one guy out of the new crop that I thought would have given Ward a run for his money.

Gvozdyk should win but props to Adonis for taking this fight. Props? He had no choice. :) And even now the fight is not official yet regardless of what Sulaiman said in his Twitter.

Really happy for Gvo. Fantastic talent, good boxing instincts, and a nice guy to boot. LHW has gone through a lot of recent changes but it's about to get interesting now that the belt is no longer being held hostage.

Gvozdyk should win but props to Adonis for taking this fight.

I haven't seen Gvozdyk fight yet, but Adonis looked like shít in his last fight. Looked old.
