Seems more and more fighters are beginning to forgo getting a promoter and even starting their own promotional companies. How do you see this changing the landscape of the boxing world?
Fighters would dodge even more and itd be hard to follow some boxers who do dumb s hit for money and end up fighting in some stream only platform from some obscure romanian company
Then the richest fighter would start a league like the UFC and will have no “promoter” but have a s hit contract and get taken advantage of because theyd have no idea how to make an event.
Fighting on youtube for free and get filmed with iphones and drones
:lol1: hilarious
They have to have a very outgoing personality and that can take them far. Personality is everything in this game. Some business sense not in the sense of business education but in making common sense decisions and having a great adviser.

you seem to be retarded thinking just because someone is a boxer they cant be successful when that has been proven wrong
yeah, all the gyms are just chock full of 2-0 fighters who happen to have 60 or 70 grand liquid so they can promote an event......
99% of those "promotional" companies are vanity plays (or tax dodges) and will never stage a single event.......
Spence and Danny Garcia put fighters signed to them on their undercard same with most big names
Well, it depends on if the fighters are hiring someone else to perform the functions a traditional promoter does.
If no, then the sport goes to crap. If yes, then business as usual.

Corrrect.
But what if they do?? thats the question at hand
If fighters were in charge of their own career's, Boxing would close shop in ~10 years.
Look at Spence and Garcia. They're fighting lacklustre fights. Fans will only take so much of that before they move on to something else.
Promoters spend money on marketing, purse bids, advances, venues, merch, etc. Boxers can't do all that on their own. Most of them are dumb as rocks.
Say Larry is becoming a top fighter and gets a card going. You get your undercard fighters in place, reserving a venue, pay the venue a deposit, money on training camp, purses in escroe, order the merch, money on marketing, insurance policies, licensing fee's, legal fee's, working with networks, ppv, etc etc.
Honestly, you wouldn't even have that kind of money unless you were already drowning in money which you never would because how would you have gotten the money in the first place? You also don't have the brain power to do it all either. The negotiating table alone will drive you up a wall.
By that time there is a lot of money exchanging hands. What if your opponent gets injured or backs out? You going to cancel the show? Cancel and lose money. Go on with the show and have a shítty opponent or change the headline act and your name is mud and you're losing money.
are you retarded or something?
99% of fighters cannot advance their career without the guidance and backing of a promoter.
Case in point. If not for top rank doing the first 15 or 20 fights for the charlos, they would not be where they are today.
Is that simple enough for you?

Larry is a special kind of simpleton, he needs facts punched into his head.
If you look at the current landscape of boxing Al Haymon advised fighters make up
the majority of fighters crossing barriers to make fights happen!
We need more of this from other boxing outfits! Their "promoters" are preventing this!
Just answer the damn question , how would the landscape of boxing change if boxers would forgo promoters and promote themselves!!! is that broken down enough for you?

All the self promoted champions would fight journeymen and not care about competitive fights or unifications
Look what TMT, K2, Cotto promotions did to the game
BS fights BS scorecards new weightclasses
what fighters are doing it? i havent seen it....
They're really aren't any. Even Haymon fighters aren't really independent even if they technically don't have a "promoter". They still sign a contract and give Al his 10%. I can see why some fighters would want to cut out the middleman but being a promoter is a lot of work especially when you are also fighting full time. De La Hoya learned this which is why he hired Richard Schaefer to do all the day to day stuff at Golden Boy.
Hope this answers it
It would breed far more managers/agents representing their boxer which would be clients to make fights
Eventually 2-3 agents would have several boxers they work for and become the boxing super managers/agents
You would see boxers also sign deals to be screened with certain broadcasters and the broadcasters would set the card up by arranging fights again by contacting other agents/managers
The more I think about it, it’s impossible, the promoter plays a vital vital role in keeping the balance and arranging everything, there will always be one who is the circus owner
The sport as a whole would suffer, the quality would diminish. Noone has the time to be in the gym, and at the same time making deals, talking to venues, and all the other stuff promoters do. All sportsmen have agents, which is essentially what a promoter is. Takes care of all the other ****, whilst you concentrate on being the sportsman
the fighters who you are likely referring to actually HAVE a promoter. He just happens to call himself an "advisor". But make no mistake, a person who funds events, and controls the event revenue, is a promoter. Doesnt matter if he calls himself a snake charmer, he is still a promoter.
Outside of those fighters, there are only a handful of fighters who have a high enough profile to freelance without an experienced promoter. And because that number is so few, I revert to my original answer that it will have little to no impact on the boxing landscape overall....

The question was FIGHTERS WHO ARE FORGOING PROMOTERS!!!! That is what this thread is about, how would boxing be if fighters GOT RID OF PROMOTERS!!!! AND JUST DID IT THEMSELVES!!!! how would that change the landscape of boxing
