Seems like most of these long title defense streaks are made from fighting , lower tier boxers..Who has actually gotten a good streak by fighting top fighters?
We're any of the guys Chocolatito was fighting before losing to that Thai guy any good? I'm legit asking cause I don't much follow the little people.
Don't be such a heightest.

Leonard never had any long defense streaks
My first reaction to your response was What?? I checked and yes, your right. He had a lot of memorable fights but not a long defensive reign.
Yeah, they all had great reigns but I was pointing to reigns of 5 years and 10 defenses minimum. What Sanchez crammed into two and a half years was incredible. Same with Henry Armstrong at 147. Eder Jofre and Carlos Zarate at 118 too etc;
Oh...yes I see...Armstrong & Zarate of course great!
Great list! Lets not forget the greats Salvador Sanchez, Alexis Arguello, Lupe Pintor & Jolting Jeff Chandler. (funny Sanchez vs Arguello, Pintor vs Chandler were 2 super fights that never materialized)

You recently said Hopkins is better than Roy Jones and some would argue his greatest feat was being undisputed, 10 years and 20 defenses.
Joe Louis had 7 title fight victories over hall of fame opponents and defeated about 3-4 to earn the title shot. To reign as the only champion in the one belt era for over a decade and 25 defenses is impressive.
Dominance over a single division is impressive especially when it's backed up with longevity because as Tom Cruise said (the poster not the actor) when you are so dominant over so long then you've probably stopped a few guys from making a name for themselves. Far more impressive than the division hopping grab a title here, a title here smash and grab route that many fighters nowadays go for.
I'll give you some others that had long reigns and beat good opposition going with a rule of 5 years minimum and 10 defenses minimum reign :-
Carlos Monzon
Marvelous Marvin Hagler
Wilfredo Gomez (at 122)
Felix Trinidad (at 147)
Eusebio Pedroza
Archie Moore
Roberto Duran
Great list! Lets not forget the greats Salvador Sanchez, Alexis Arguello, Lupe Pintor & Jolting Jeff Chandler. (funny Sanchez vs Arguello, Pintor vs Chandler were 2 super fights that never materialized)
That even better then . In june 2002 he fought Mercer then McCline in Dec . So Lewis didnt accept Wlads challenge , Wlad ended up losing to Sanders then Lewis took on Vitali .
Do you have a link to him challenging Lennox?
Hagler. middleweight champion for many years. He defended his title very often. Up to 4 times a year. He beat Hearns and Duran and many other top middleweights and gave all worthy challengers a shot at his title avoiding nobody.
Seems like most of these long title defense streaks are made from fighting , lower tier boxers..Who has actually gotten a good streak by fighting top fighters?
Can’t remember! Think most have fought cleverly arranged matches or waited until a threat got too old
Every long title defense streak is going to be filled with questionable competition simply because you have to defend against questionable mandatories to keep them. In between those mandatories you typically beat a few top fighters.
True that. If even 2 top fighters are mixed into a series of 10 defenses, that's a good run.
