Lampley even mentioned that he probably shouldn't say it before making the analogy between Joshua and Ali. There's no one out there like Ali. That said, Joshua does have the potential to be a great HW champion of this era. We'll just have to wait and see. The kid's essentially just getting started as a champ.
aj has a good thing going for himself in the UK but hes not near ALI and hes not controversial enough. why hasn't lampley been labeled a woman beater on this site by the posters tho?
Probably only because most people don't know/remember
Agreed
Joshua is boxing right now
Everyone wants his name attached to theirs, even if they duck him like wilder, there name gets known by billions for being linked with the biggest star in boxing for a long long time

who's talking about Wilder? We're comparing AJ and Ali..
Did AJ not ask for $50m for a fight and then turn the fight down when they offered him it? Doesn't matter if it was Wilder or Joe Bloggs. He still ducked a fight with a rival top HW when they met his demand.
Ali fought the best.
Give him a chance, he is still young hasn't had a huge amount of fights and has cleaned out the division winning all belts apart from one. He has sent a signed contract over for that one too.
You don't want much do you?
Agreed. These comparisons are dumb and unfair to the fighter being compared but if it's anyone it would have to be Fury.
Loudmouth confident ****-talker who can back it up in the ring with an unpredictable style, more of a boxer than a power puncher, won the title(s) then lost 3 years of prime fighting years... Mounting a comeback, we'll see how it goes
Somes up my thoughts thanks for the post.
Uh oh Lampley has spoken, lmao. Fury says Wilder is the better fighter than Joshua and he’s a dope sniffing PED abuser lmao. We know how this works lol...
Fury reminds me most of Ali when thinking of today's heavyweights

So you think Lampley is being biased because Wilder is a Showtime fighter?
AJ has been televised on Showtime for how many fights now...?
No, I'm just commenting on HBO commentators tendency to make outlandishly favorable claims for their own fighter. In this case, neither is their fighter, he's probably being honest, but if Wilder were and AJ weren't Lampley would not be calling AJ the Ali of this era, he would be saying Wilder is #1 in the division, most ducked, most feared, a living legend.
Lol. Truth.
HBO guys are such shameless shills. People rage about their commentary but I don't. My attitude is, if you want the news, you don't watch an infomercial. joshua is still much better than donkey wilder.
It must burn you to hewr that from an american commentator fox lol.
The fight with wilder will happen and when it does you want to back up your talk with green backs ?
Joshua will knock wilder spark out and im willing to lay heavy cash with you son.
Lets put it on the line fox lol
What does a totally shot, miles past prime Ali losing to Holmes have to do with anything? That Holmes would probably outbox today's AJ.
I used that example to demonstrate AJ being a p*ssy. Past prime Ali fought Holmes for 8 million. Prime Joshua won't fight Wilder for 50.
I don't think for one minute he was comparing Joshua to Ali on ability or personality. But when you are selling out the biggest stadiums in the UK and are getting a global audience from 140 countries and are on HBO and Showtime at the same time, then you see that the potential reach he has.
What does a totally shot, miles past prime Ali losing to Holmes have to do with anything? That Holmes would probably outbox today's AJ.
he was making a decent comparison saying that Ali was about a decade past his prime, but still took money to get his ass kicked by a prime Holmes.
meanwhile AJ is in his prime, and won't take 50 mil to take a fight that he claims he will win.
Imagine how different this conversation would be if Wilder was an HBO fighter and not Showtime hahaha.
AJ's not worthy to drink Ali's pee at the moment, but Lampley gave a bit of interesting perspective on Joshua, didn't know that about the Klitschko fight.
So you think Lampley is being biased because Wilder is a Showtime fighter?

AJ may quite possibly have the most dull personality of any top guy. Dude is super PC and hardly wants to say anything controversial. When he does say things or does things that those deem controversial, he will either back track or delete his tweets/videos. Does that sound like Ali to you?
Wtf is he on about? That comparison should not be made...at all. Pacquaio was closer to Ali than Joshua could ever hope to be tbh.
But Josh looks more like ali
Muhammad Ali rolled out of his bed to get his ass whooped by Larry Holmes for $8 million (adj. for inflation $24 million). Anthony Joshua declined $50 million with a 50-50 split for a fight he and his team says he'll win. What does a totally shot, miles past prime Ali losing to Holmes have to do with anything? That Holmes would probably outbox today's AJ.
