You know I hope that Canelo is deliberately cutting for speed, but I have to say he really looks like he's off the gear. I hope he doesn't get pulverized.
But I agree Canelo closing the door on Golovkin would feel like something.
Yup been saying that boxing was in a lul while waiting for the next generation to be ready. I believe we are almost there. New tv deals, new champions, new names, new big fights.
I do love this sport!
Crawford won all 4 titles in one division doe, something nobody else has done in over 10 years, and he beat 2 undefeated champions doing it.
The mighty Indongo and Postol :lol1:
As i said, when will he fight a top level fighter?
Isn't that the way it always goes? Good older boxers get too old to beat guys as good or almost as good as themselves but who are many years younger. They can say 35 is the new 30 in boxing but in general it is not true. Most boxers are way past prime at 35 just as they have always been. There are always a few boxers who are exceptions to the rule and fight almost as good at 40 as the did at 30 but they are very rare. Wait until the GGG vs Canelo fight is over before you retire GGG to the old boxer's home. He might surprise you and be one of those exceptions to the old age rule and have a couple of very good years left to keep beating the best. He is clearly no longer prime though. At his age no boxer is.
When do you think Crawford will fight a top level opponent instead of picking up easy titles in different divisions like Broner and Ricky Burns did?

Yes, there's definitely some new young guys at the top but not sure how this is anything new? The real changing of the guard was 5 years ago when only 1 P4P fighter was under 30! Virtually all have either retired or are non factors. By 2016 half the top 10 were young guns & the list has stayed pretty fresh since then.

I think the emerging talents in the like of Mikey, Spence, Loma will carry the sport and don't forget the potential AJ/Wilder clashes. In fact, it might even prove to be the start of a great era. I'm enjoying watching Mikey, Loma and Spence and seeing how far they go: they all have the potential to be ATGs.

I agree Larry and it’s about time. Let’s see what the new generation brings

We all know he fight under Top Rank who has almost no 147 fighters.
