I hate to say it, but I think Kovalev has a weak chin. He was KOed in the amateurs, dropped by Darnell Boone, rocked and stopped by featherfisted Ward, and knocked out cold by Alvarez.

Nobody has ever claimed he has an iron chin.
He recover is poor and when he is rocked he doesn't have the survival tricks to make it through the round.
I don't think he has a particularly weak chin. Prior to fighting Ward he was never really that badly hurt. He took some huge punches off of Pascal and walked it off, the few times he was knocked down were down to being caught off balance more than anything. However, I do think his defense sucks. If you're going to fight a big LHW like Alvarez or even a sharp puncher like Ward and you leave yourself open with your hands around your waist and no head movement, they're going to nail you with a big shot and hurt you. He got away with it against guys who were forced onto the back foot out of fear of Kovalev because they rarely got to nail him with anything super hard and usually he was the one leading off, but Ward and now Alvarez didn't fall into that trap and led off with big straight rights to the head, and look what happened.

Boone dropped Ward and KOed Stevenson so their chins must be as weak or weaker than Kovalev's chin. Kovalev had a hell of a run as the light heavyweight champ of the world to have this weak chin you are claiming he has. Alvarez bombed him with some perfectly placed hard fast punches. If Alvarez hits any light heavyweight that hard, clean and often they are going down. Quit taking away from Alvarez's devastating KO and blaming it on kovalev's weak chin. Kovalev was a 4 to 1 betting favorite to win so the pro odds makers clearly didn't think he had a weak chin
So if a boxer gets KO'd a couple times by body shots, he still has a weak chin? Did Oscar have a weak chin because Hopkins KO'd him with a body shot?
I think it's reasonable to differentiate between a guy that can take a punch to every part of his body...EXCEPT his chin. Amir Khan comes to mind...his chin is absolutely weak.
body is not the same as a head.
chin + temple + cheekbone + nose = head
If you can't take any headshot well = bad chin.

Your mama is weak
The first knockdown, seemed like it was from a punch that he could have either slipped or blocked. His stamina and reflexes appears to be declining. That punch was in clear view. He saw it but couldn't move out of the way of it which is not a good sign. His china is now permanently broken.
He got hit on the temple, not his chin. It's a different part of the human body. It messed up his
equilibrium, but he DID get up, of course only to get TKO'd. It's not as if he got his on his CHIN and
went down for good.
chin in boxing refers to ability to take a punch. it doesnt mean just literally the chin part of your body
Ward wound up and hit Kovalev with his best right hand cleanly on the chin and Kovalev remained standing. Kovalev may not have a Golovkin type chin but it's still pretty good.
Yea he has now been exsposed for having a weak beard. But its like that with a lot if punchers they can crack bones but can't dish it out either way i hope Sergey bounces back.
He's definitely not the most durable though his conditioning or lack of is a big factor in that.
A stereotypical bully he can give it but not take it. His body language is horrible when he gets hit too.
