Loma had maybe five of six WSB fights. These fights look like the traditional first pro fights of young prospects, but against better opposition. 5 rounds, 10-point lust system, no headgear. If we're being fair to fighters of the past, who only had amateur fights headgears on point-scoring system, etc. then it was Loma's 7th or 8th pro fight.
The question can still be asked, because I don't know many fighters who would have beaten Salido in less than 10 fights.
Not Hopkins, Armstrong, Marquez, Arguello, Sanchez, Napoles, Ortiz, Pacquaio just to name a few legends who had losses within their early career to much lesser fighters.
This right here...people need to stop hating on Loma
That's a tough one, most would definitely lose, really hard to guess who would actually be successful in a setting like that.
For all those hating, there's a reason fighters don't fight for a world title in their 2nd fight, much less against a rough and rugged veteran like Salido. Have you ever wondered why you current favorite fighter didn't take this road to a title?
So you’re saying we can just make up official records for fighters now?
Not at all. I clearly state his official record was 1-0 when he went into the fight. I am also pointing out The reason TR put him in with Salido was they felt he could win because they saw him fight in the 6 quasi pro fights and felt he was ready.
Note that Loma didn't sign with TR until July 2013, 2 months after he had the 6 WBS fights.
I am no fan of Doug Fischer but he discusses this in the article below.

Garcia fought guys with 100% losses in his second and third pro fight. If he fought Salido then he would have been ruined.
Mikey was fighting a boxer with 40 losses in 9th pro fight lmfaooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I don’t know anymore. I just give Loma no more credit than anyone else for losing to a Salido regardless if it was his second fight. Maybe u agree, maybe u don’t. Shoulda read more of ur posts.
How many fighters would get a major title fight in their second fight?
Gotta take the good with the bad.
I really like Loma, but you gotta get in line and earn your shots in the pros, no matter what you did as an amateur.
He bypassed many pro boxers who should've gotten a title fight before him.
He used his status as an amateur, and Arum got him a title fight and he lost. End of story. He has had a good run after that though.
Loma got pro experience without it counting against his record. Acknowledging doesn't change the official record but it does give the proper context.
Both Mikey and Loma were 25 when the fought Salido. Maybe Mikey is better than Loma.
That's why I hope they fight. I don't know who would win.

What 16 year old are you talking about?[/QUOTE
Canelo turned pro at 16, sum have younger. Fighting a salido in ur second pro fight is great on paper. Unless ur a 25yr old Olympic gold medalist and u totally expected to win. Older and younger have beaten Salido. No credit. Had all his life to train for the pros. Couldn’t do it at 25yrs old.
Nobody but a Lomachenko 25yrs old and his pedigree is fighting a Salido in his second fight. We know he’s special. But he didn’t pull it off. Gets no credit. Only stymies his career financially, unless maybe he learned enough for it to be a blessing. Who knows.
Show me where quasi pro is factored into any of his record? Is it quasiboxrec.com.?

Boxrec does list the age. Mikey and Loma were both 26 when they fought Salido. One of them beat Salido and the lesser one lost to him. One is trying to fight the best ww in the world and the other is trying to fight the 4th or 5th best lightweight. No shame in any of that, Mikey is just a class above everyone else, Loma included.
Great. But thats not what this thread is about. Mikey Garcia fought a guy with one fight in his second fight. Loma fought a guy with 55.
