tito and margarito about the same size.
thats a fight id love to have seen.
Pacquaio fought Margarito at a Catch-Weight and drained him plus Margarito sucks b@lls.
Tito wipes his ass with Margarito, 1st rd KO. Hell, it's boxing sacrilege to put Margarito next to a beast like Tito.
I love Manny but his best fighting weight was 135 or 140 tops. Trinidad knocks him out in my opinion. Trinidad was a great puncher. He was welterweight champion at age 20 and won 15 title defenses in a row including 12 by KO.The 3 he didn't KO were Whitaker, Oscar and Camacho and nobody knocked them out at welterweight. He had out grown welterweight his last year as champion but stayed at 147 for the big money fight with Oscar. He was weight drained for that fight and moved to 154 right after it. Trinidad was an undefeated 40 and 0 when he lost to Hopkins.
Tito was slower than Pacquiao, both with his punches and movement. But I see him using his height and reach advantage and a stiff jab to force Manny to lunge too far to launch attacks. He'll time one of them with his left hook and that would be the beginning of the end. Tito by KO in the 9th.
I think Tito struggles with Manny' s speed for a round or two, then get the timing down to get a tko victory by the 5th rd.
What do you guys think?
This fight here gives you an appreciation for manny's body of work at Welterweight. The guy is an overachiever 'cos frankly he has no business fighting above 135-140. Having said all of that, I think he holds his own against Tito for 6 rounds then Tito's physicality takes over. I 'll take Tito by late round stoppage but if he couldn't get to Pac then Pac likely wins a decision.
Look at Trinidad's record at 147 and 154. He lost when he went up in weight against the top of the division.
Trinidad had a lot of timing with power. Doubt that Pac would had sustain an attack knowing that the incoming was so hard and precise.
Trinidad's money punch was his left hook, but his right hand was no slouch by any means.
Some of you guys are making it seem like it was difficult to hit Manny, Manny s defense was his offense, he kept people on guard by swarming them, that wouldn't work on Tito, his speed would give him problems sure, but Tito used to be a good boxer before he fell in love with his power, and for the people saying Oscar, Vargas outbox/hurt Tito, Manny was never a good boxer or had the power that Vargas had, Tito by KO.
It’s not in Pacquiao’s DNA to fight the way Oscar did against Tito. He would definitely try and get respect from his opponent.
Also, Pacquiao doesn’t have the same dimensions as Oscar so I’m not sure why people are using that fight as some sort of barometer. Especially since anyone who saw how many times Miguel Cotto tagged Manny would have to assume a far better fighter in Tito would do the same.
In his prime (he was weakening himself to make weight before Oscar), Trinidad was pretty quick, had good footwork and worked behind a steady, snapping jab. He’d size up your moves, before setting you up for the kill shot.
Pacquiao may have been fast but he was quite hittable. Over 12 rounds, Trinidad would have been too strong, too powerful, too composed and simply, too good. Trinidad KO 8.
Pac beat Welterweights as big as Tito but I don't think he beat any welterweights better than Tito. Oscar was better but he was a dead man at that weight that night.
My head says Tito knocks him out, but then a part of me thinks Pac could do it. He's shocked me with his performances time again, is this fight really a bridge too far?
Tito's best shot is his left hook, he doesn't have a good right hand counter like JMM or Mayweather that Pac was vulnerable to. Tito wouldn't box him and counter like they did, he'd be right in front of him and he'd fight fire with fire and allow Pac to fight his kind of fight. Vargas dropped Tito with the left hand, so did Leushing, so did Cortes and so did Campos and we all know it's Pac's left that is the deadly weapon. Pac also moves in and out very well, could Tito get overwhelmed by Pac's speed, movement and rapid fire combo's like so many others, I wouldn't rule it out.
While Pac doesn't have the jab that Winky had, or the defensive boxing skills of BHop, maybe he has enough to beat Tito. I'd still favour the bigger Tito but don't think he has an easy night with Pac, he'll probably have to pick himself off the canvas early like he has so many times before and resort to some strategic low blows like he did vs Vargas to keep Pac off him when in trouble, but eventually his bigger punching, size and own relentless style will see him come out on top.
Underrating Tito here.. he lost to master boxers who were defensively responsible and were at least close in his size or bigger. Manny as great as he was, is too small and offensively minded, eventually Trinidad knocks his block off.
Pacman might get a knockdown early but Trinidad would do to Manny what Marquez did. Straight right down the middle. 147 was tito best weight class. Roy Jones stated that he felt old ass Tito's power when they fought at 170lbs. I doubt Manny will take it. Tito will win by ko
"Tito is too strong" this is true BUT it is also true that Manny is too fast for Tito, Oscar indirectly proved this.
Bottom line is I'd favor Tito only slightly. I think Pac beats him up but at some point Tito probably lands the hook. If Tito can't land it, his face is a bloody pulp after 12.
