dont want to create a new thread, because amateur boxing isnt really receiving a lot of attention here.
Julio Cesar de La Cruz, one of cubans top amateur boxers was knocked out against an amateur boxer from the USA, Coe Khalil.
Does anyone know anything about Khalil? Is he a special talent? The Knockout was a premature, but knocking de la cruz down hard is a great feat by itself.
Interesting news.
Hearn claims he's already signed a bunch of big time US amateurs and if he's truly going to build a lasting American stable, he needs good prospects, not just a couple current stars and a bunch of gatekeepers. Hopefully Robeisy can avoid a lot of the problems Cuban prospects seem to have staying active and getting good fights once they are in the pro's
If he stays and trains in Mexico, maybe ...
Two time gold medalist 24 year old robeisy ramirez has left the Cuban team in Mexico. Sounds like he might turn pro
woah
where did you hear that?
and where is he now?
Yes!! He is going to become a star!!!!! I was hoping he would defect because he is a cant miss!!!!!! Hope he can get into the USA which would be his best bet.

Breaking:- Double Olympic Gold- Pan American Games Gold- Central American & Caribbean Games Gold - Youth Olimpic Gold - Youth AIBA Amateur World ChampRobeisy RamirezHas left Team Cuba yesterday while training in Aguascalientes, Mexico@jorgeebro— BarbosaBox BarbosaBox) July 4, 2018
Defected in Mexico so probably ends up with Zanfer Promotions or something. Hard to get in the US right now but good luck to him IF TRUE, really hope to see him as a PRO! All Time Great Amateur though, whoever gets him is getting a SUPERSTAR! 2 Time Gold Medal Winner and still only 24 years old that is crazy if you think about it. Rigo and Loma did it but they're was much older than Ramirez.
Not rubbish in terms of skills, not at all but in terms of consistency and fulfilling their potential. Come on bro, just look at this list
Guillermo Rigondeaux
Odlanier Solis
Mike Perez
Rances Barthélemy
Yuriorkis Gamboa
Luis Ortiz
Yoan Pablo Hernandez
Erislandy Lara
Richard Abril
Yunier Dorticos
Look at that talent. Yet none of them can be called an all time great. None of them have ever had consistency in their career. It's always one great win before fading away or something happens which affects their career
Guillermo Rigondeaux - we know his case
Odlanier Solis - turned up obese vs Vitali, dissappeared since
Mike Perez - affected by the Mago tragedy, will never be the same again
Rances Barthélemy - just lot to Relikh
Yuriorkis Gamboa - could have been special
Luis Ortiz - best win is Jennings back in 2015 then stuck the place against Thompson, Scott and Allen
Yoan Pablo Hernandez - not fought since 2014
Erislandy Lara - the most successful of the bunch but arguably robbed in his biggest fights
Richard Abril - disappeared after schooling Rios and Bogere
Yunier Dorticos--not fought since Gassiev loss
I'm missing names but I hope you can see my point man
Unfortunately, you are correct in all accounts, since casamayor all have been unfulfilled promises and very little to expect from the current under 30 years old fighters and prospects,
Rubbish in the pros? nah

Great. Pro boxing can always use another good Cuban boxer and a young one at that. It's a shame they won't let their boxers turn pro and come and go from Cuba as they please.
Good ****.
Just like Lomachenko he impressed me more when he won his first Gold, still he is needed since Cuban Boxing has taken nothing but L's the past year.
He won't do **** simply because he's Cuban. The current generation of Cuban fighters have been absolutely diabolical in the pros. Whether it's having one great win and living off it, signing deals with **** promotional companies such as Caribe, turning down fights, playing hopscotch between promoters, struggle to adapt to the pro style or anything else, the Cubans, despite being the master race in the amateurs, are rubbish in the pros
