floyd was not popular until he fought oscar de la hoya on PPV. that fight crossed over to the casual audience because it was promoted properly. these things are done with calculation, wilder will become a star overnight, particularly if they can get this fight in the US. yes, people decide who they want to follow, but really it comes down to a push from CBS and showtime, one of the biggest media companies in the world. stars are not born, they are made!. yes talent, style, charisma, etc is a factor and you need it, but the most important aspect is investment in the promotion. press tours, media appearances, paid spots for casuals to be able to tune in on TV, radio, social media, to have the fight pitched to them. introduce the players, show highlight reels, and make sure they know the date and that it is on PPV. this fight will be huge. huge. floyd mayweather fought connor freaking mcgregor for 4 million ppvs at 100 a pop! connor had never boxed in his life and he's not a f#cking HW with knockout power like these two! belioeve me, casual fans won't eventhink these guys are real. the only reason they watched floyd is because they didnt' have two 6.5' 250 lbers with adonis bodies to watch.

Wilder has defeated only one good fighter in his whole career and that is Ortiz. All the others were no better than fair. Mayweather is reasonable well spoken. its the caliber of opponents that made floyd so popular while remaining undefeated. floyd had zab, corrales, castillo, gatti, cotto, mosley, oscar, pacquiao, hatton, canelo, marquez joshua and fury are the only possible opponents wilder has that mean something and 1 of them is the biggest pu$$y in boxing. and the other one is shaking off some rust.
