Why do Warren and Hearn hate each other???
We know why Floyd hates bob, DelaHoya hates Floyd and so on.
So why this??
Sorry if this is an inane question but it’s been bothering me for a while.
Warren was pretty much the biggest promoter in the UK for 20 years or so until Eddie revived Matchroom and got an exclusive Sky contract. Sky are the biggest backers of boxing in the UK and they cut ties with Warren and a host of other old school promoters, giving Eddie a free reign and budget to take over boxing in the UK.
Frank had to resort to starting up a niche boxing channel to put on his own shows. This had considerable expense and made it difficult for him to compete with Hearn and Sky, but tbf to Warren, he’s stuck at it and now he’s landed a big deal with BT.
Frank sees Eddie as the young up start, who’s knocked him off his perch. As well as that Eddie signed a lot of Frank’s fighters from him early on (Brook, Bellew, Burns, as well as others).
Add to that years of them slagging each other off on IFLTV and yeah.
It’s remarkable that they’ve never even met.
I think you need to have a look at the PPV buys and other financial figures for fights from Hearn that don't include AJ for the last two / 3 years. It definitely isn't just AJ who makes money... It's just AJ who makes obscene money.
You don’t look at numbers because you can’t even count :smashfrea
Eddie came on the scend making noise and Warren paid it no mind because his dad was never real competition for him.
But then Eddie managed to get exclusivity at Sky Sports and fighters flocked to him and be became #1 in the UK but some margin. Frank not only hated that fact but Hearn rubbed it in his face by taking shots at him.
It's been a pissing match ever since.
From Warrens side he's seen what the dad did.
Barry was involved in the sport on a Brentwood club level all the way to big fights
Tony Simms is their relation & they had high hopes for him coming through. He had a name on the london circuit & then got cheeky in sparring & got ko & his jaw broke
They moved away from boxing when their fighters lost ground & went into other sports
Warren stuck with boxing...it's his bread & butter & hes paid his dues.
He had the contract with sky but hearn jnr was whispering in their ear. Warren got wind of it & set up boxnation
It came out eventually & warren moved to his own channel
Hearn was a boxing judas & would whisper in fighters ear promising them all sorts. Completely illegal he got away with it
He then started to sign Warren fighters. Kell Brook moved over to him as did Carl Froch
Both fighters had been invested in by warren and Hennessey. Hennessey had an old school working relationship with warren
It was Hearn being Hearn...talking out of both sides of his mouth, lying when his lips moved & trying to rip people off.
Contrary to what he wants you to believe. Its not open books with hearn. Its smoke & mirrors & bullshït
Because Warren is a bitter, old bastard with fish eyes that sees Hearn as the pompous rich kid that doesn't respect how the "old-timers" used to do it. I'm sure he's also worried that Hearn will make him irrelevant with all the success Matchroom has had. Throw on top of that the fact that Hearn IS a prick and has a big ego that he loves to stroke and rub that success in Warren's fish eyes. The best PPV that could be made in Britain isn't Khan/Brook or Joshua/Fury, it's Hearn/Warren. I'd fly to the UK to see those 2 fight in person.
Hearn is a pompous rich kid tho. I think their both a pair of wankers.

Fish eyes lol
Warren all through his career has had a bad rep with looking after his fighters....warren went back further than frank Maloney in terms of being a named promoter.
Warren at one time controlled the middleweight division and had it all tied up on ITV with the benn, eubanks, collins and through to calzaghe era
I don't know if you know this but warren became more famous after he got shot by a maked gunman (supposedly a former fighter of his TM).
Warren was prety much a promoter of the WBO and mostly all his fighters competed for that belt and he put some horrendous shows with very weak challengers for his fighters....eubanks and calzaghe boxed some awful challengers.
warren has that bitter side to him and he has watched hearn take all the spotlight now and promote all the biggest boxing events in the uk.
Warren also tried f@ck mike tyson over and the result was him being hung over a 4th floor window by his throat.
Warren is one nasty piece of work trust me and he resents hearn becoming the top dog
I think it's a mixture of commercial rivalry and genuine antipathy, especially from Warren's side.
I'm sure a lot is pure pantomime aimed at putting bums on seats but I admit to finding Frank's bitterness very entertaining.
Eddie Hearn is clearly enjoying the role he's playing and if I were competing against him and generally losing as Warren is, I'd find that smarmy demeanor difficult to take.
As it is however they make one of the more amusing quasi double acts in boxing.

I wouldn’t know. But that’s the point I’m also trying to make. What fighters does Eddie have signed other than AJ and Daniel Jacobs that are known on this side of the ocean?
Thing is, last I checked all he has (off the top of my head) is AJ and Jacobs. Once AJ loses his 0, Hearn is going to regret making enemies out of the American promoters. Is Derevyanchenko still managed by Haymon?
As much as people seem to think all you need is the UK to be successful in boxing, that's not true. Eddie is a few powerful enemies away from being back to interviewing poker players on tuesday afternoons.

I must admit.. taking the whole wilder / AJ thing out of the equation he has managed to proper piss off dibella..Finkel..and Espinoza.
Espinoza is getting marked big time you can tell lol.
Hearn does the smug **** routine like a pro

He enjoys winding people up, but I think he does it in a calculated way too, like a boxer trashing his opponent to sell a fight. Grudges and rivalries get people's attention, and that translates into money.

By the sounds of it DiBella takes things in good faith and he and Hearn have a good business relationship right now.
Eddie knows he can get away with rubbing people up the wrong way, because money talks, and he generates it as well as anybody. It doesn't matter who he pisses off, his door is always open to do business.
The snidey comments from Hearn were definitely a factor.
He's doing the same thing with US promoters now he's moved into the States, and it's having the same effect on them as it had on Warren.

If memory serves me correctly.. it's because Hearn being Hearn very early on said he was going to change the scene and put boxing back on the map.
This was when Warren shared sky sports rights with other UK promoters like Maloney / Hatton / Hennessey etc etc .
Warren said he wasn't worried at all.. and then the UK promoters sort of formed an alliance to get rid of Hearn or make life difficult when he managed to get some of the sky dates.
Their product was stale..and fighters moved over to matchroom quite rapidly and so he just became quite bitter.
Hearn used to jab at him quite a bit aswell...little snidey comments that I'm sure pissed Frank off royally.
Fighters that had a problem with Warren personally or legally usually went to Hearns stable and eventually he got full sky exclusivity.
I think aswell there's just some bitterness from Frank that he's been in the sport so long.. yet when you look at the two companies now, matchroom just dwarves queensberry in terms of market reach.. finance and in some people's opinions..value for money and cards.
Matchroom certainly put on an awful lot.more content and boxing shows now.

The thing is, they've never even met each other!
Frank Warren is just a bitter old man. Jealous that a younger man has come along and stolen the majority of the market share in British boxing despite not even promoting for a decade.
If he wasn't so stubborn he would be matching his fighters with Hearns to build his own brand on BT. Hearn has stated many times he would allow his fighters to fight on other networks and promotions.
But Frank's style is very conservative especially with his prospects.
Just a case of 2 big fish in a small pond, imo.
Warren looked like becoming the dominant force in UK boxing after Mickey Duff retired and Frank Malony started having heart attacks when his fighters lost, then turned into a woman.
Then Eddie Hearn took over Matchroom from his dad, linked up with Sky Sports, and the rivalry began from there.
