I mean, I had a lot of respect for Rigo, I might be one of 7 people who actually enjoyed his fights. Then that Lomachenko fight happened and I was in disbelief after the first days of the fight.
Yes, Rigo had all disadvantages in the world but that's what lil guy was asking for, plus his fanbase was very vocal before the fight. He had small but very strong cult following from boxing snobs who thought they know boxing better than the rest, showing their elitism compared to other fans
We knew Rigo is tiny but a lot of people thought his unparalleled skills would help him to neutralize all disadvantages. "Nah lomo you ***** it aint quitter like walters this time around he wont be there for you to hit get ready to get your ***** jaw broken can't hit what you can't see". Even Rigo coach said Donaire is a bigger challenge
We thought its gonna be a high level chessmatch, it's like a kung fu movie where two masters with grey beards met each other, and they're from different provinces of China and represent different schools of kung fu.Then they start flying around, fighting, throwing fireballs at each other all kinds of ****
It turned out to be the easiest fight of Loma's career lmao. The fight sucked but it was so hilarious, Chenko not only humiliated him, he disrespected Rigo right in the ring, like "Skeeted in your jeep/Left condoms on your baby seat" kind of disrespect. Punched him after the bell too while erasing Rigo's whole ATG amateur legacy in less than 30 minutes and castrating him. Rigo's cult following completely vanished after this fight. Like he never existed. I was shocked for a whole week. Loma was like whooping his ass and screaming at his fans like Where's your boxing god now, this time is not sushi chef from Japan. Even Koasicha was better
For guys like Duran and Rigo humiliation is worse than death, they'd better die in the ring, that's few words in Rigo defense. Now even his twitter is dead, he wasn't posting anything since the day of the fight same with Instagram. Any news from his team?
I rewatch the fight only because it was hilarious, the fight sucks but you can have a laugh especially if you put that Benny Hill theme on the background
like a lot of cubans i expect that he's a lot older than he claims to be. he's on the back nine of his 30's even if you believe his birth certificate. i know a lot of you don't watch enough bxing or have not seen enough generations of fighters to understand this, but small fighters peak quickly in life and are used up by the time they're in their 30's. it's bigger men, who rely more on punches and chins, who typically fight late effectively and can modify their styles once their legs go. they weren't on their toes to begin with!
Easy to say after beating a 37yr old, inactive version whose legs had gone and was at every disadvantage.
Not as if it was some masterclass or beating was it? 6 rounds of neither landing a punch.
one guy was literally ducking his head to the ground like a novice. he he'd stood and fought, or even tried to box like a professional he'd have gotten his ass kicked. as it was he was hitting nothing and getting countered for it.
don't make that fight out to be something it wasn't. lomachenko had no problems hitting rigoneaux when his head wasn't six inches off f the ground and face down, he made the guy f#cking quit.
very skilled amateur and a woulda coulda type fighter with one fantastic win. he could have been so much more, adn that starts with not stinking the joint out and modifying your style to do damage and be a professional.

Rigondeaux got an absolute boxing lesson from Lomachenko and then decided to quit because he couldnt take the embarassment anymore...it was literally the ultimate compliment to Loma's skills
Coming from someone who rooted for Rigo..you should accept reality man
Mfers need time after an L sometimes. And thats probably the worst L Rigo took since he was a lil kid so sh^t probably hasn't been easy to deal with. F#ck plus dude is up there so if he just retired now I couldn't fault him. Guy jumped 2 divisions ffs. Was a dumb move, but Rigo's management has lost him so many bigger paydays I think he was desperate to get one big payday before his career was over no matter how bad an idea the fight was.
Go put Loma in with Bud tomorrow & we might see Loma quit ffs lol. Thats basically what Rigo did. Bold move, but ultimately backfired big time.
What makes it even sadder is that his purse for that night wasn't even that great. Certainly not a "cashing out" size purse.
I really hope Rigo comes back to fight a few more times at 122.

Yup definitely
Rigo was badly promoted and I can see his beating to Lomachenko as his swan song
Then again , like you said , Loma could lose tomorrow
Still doesn’t justify his lousy career
Lmao Rigo would never be able to beat Loma you delusional as hell

He is 37 years old. Looks about 50. He had been very inactive up to the Loma fight. A prime Rigo would have beat Loma

Some are pretenders, some could have a broken hand or have their shoulder popping in and out causing torn labrum and still win.
"Boxing it's a war, boxing its a very, very brutal, brutal sport. And if you come in the ring you need to die in the ring and if you can't die get out". some have very different mentalities.

Lol, sure.
Regarding the OP question. He’s back in Cuba.
We heard from Rigo fans that even THIS version would be good enough
I was so disgusted by his display against Loma, that I contacted some higher-ups and had him deported back to France. I later found out he was not from there but it just seemed so obvious at the time.
