The way he was outmuscling Horn who is easily a natural light middleweight makes me wonder if he could make the move to 160 lbs in say 3-4 years and become a champion. I can see Spence making the move there eventually but perhaps Bud is too small.
Who knows? Maybe eventually at least win a title there. I think he'd beat everyone at 154 currently. We'll have to see how he settles at the weight and grows. Only top guy at 160 I'd pick him to beat would beat Charlo. I'd be confident about that.
Gun against head I'd say, yes. He'll unify 147 and snag a title or two at 154 and an easier title at 160 if available before retiring.
My point is it's hard to wrestle when you're getting hit hard on the nose and getting your ribs softened in the process.
It was not a wrestling match but a boxing match and Horn was completely outclassed.
In no way, the way Bud handled Horn indicates me that he would beat and outstrenght the actual 154 and 160 champ Mungui, Mell, Hurd, GGG and BJS...
Horn is just not that good.
he will be the man at 154......160 might be to0 much
I don't agree with you man, boxing skills aside he was throwing horn the much bigger man around alll fight, out wrestling him in the clinch everytime...completely....what fight were you watching????

Fair points.
It would still be a few years away but I guess it depends on the middleweight landscape then and he'll have to be very selective in who he fights if he did make the move.
I do think it's a question of when not if he'll go to light middleweight. Not that he's anywhere near their class but if Mayweather and Pacquaio were big enough to do it so is Crawford.
Do you think Errol Spence could do it?
Depending what type of champ, they would have their hands full with Lara, Jermell or Hurd but they would beat guys like Sadam Ali, Smith, Brook, Trout at this point.
If he gets a Sadam Ali level champion - 100% or a former WW, say Spence, Thurman, Brook, Porter or one of these guys move up and win a belt, yes he can.
Can he beat Hurd, Charlo or one of these guys? Absolutely not.
Of course my response was in regards to 4-weight not 5, which is impossible.
I don't know what pic you're talking about, but it's not uncommon for guys to walk around 30 lbs heavier than their fight weight today.
there was a pic going around on here of Crawford on a scale at 174. It had been shopped from one that he posted on twitter of himself weighing in at 154. Thought that's what you were referring to.

I can see Crawford beating Charlo tbh
No. Jermell would be too big, strong, and powerful. Crawford gets hit too much and hasn't been in there with a fighter of Jermelle's caliber.
Crawford is an excellent fighter but he is 30 years old and men don't grow bigger at that age. Welterweight is where he belongs. He might be able to beat a weak champion at 154 and 160. There are often 4 champions to chose from and there is always the chance of fighting a mediocre fighter for a vacant title. Will Crawford ever be the very best 154 pounder or 160 pounder in the world? I doubt it. I think he is only the 2nd best welterweight in the world right now with Spence being slightly better. Surely Crawford would have beaten Ali at 154 and maybe he could beat Jermell but I doubt he beats Hurd or the Mexican who KOed Ali. They are just too big for him and hit too hard and are excellent fighters themselves.
That pic was a photoshop. I had posted the original image and the weight was actually in the low 150's.
Regardless, 160 is a huge jump for somebody that started off at 135. That was hardly done in the 80's when everyone was juiced up.

I was hearing this statement all around, the main reason why he backed Horn up his because Horn was eating punches in his teeth every time he was in front of Bud.
Horn's main problem is he's a sht boxer, his fight versus Corcoran was horrendous.
Bud so called smaller but had a reach advantage over Horn and reach is the best physical advantage you can get in boxing.
Bud's OK for WW but he would struggle at 154 facing guys like Hurd or Lara who are bigger, longer and better than Horn.
If 154 is full of Brundage or Sadam Ali champion he will be fine.
He also can win a 160 title versus Daniel Geale, Lemieux type of champions, but I wouldn't imagine beat a solid 160 champ like GGG or Jacobs.

no way. 160 is too much for someone who started as low as he did. Duran did it, but I don't think he's as good as Duran. He probably can because he walks around in teh 170s, but you have mws walking around in the 190s.
