Luis Ortiz, Erislandy Lara, Guillermo Rigondeaux are all in their late 30s with no belts currently. Are Cubans done at the elite level.
Any top Cuban prospects in the come up?
Meh, not in a rush to see them fight. Ultra boring fighting style, ultra boring personalities. Fan base here in the states doesn't seem all that passionate.
If no more come through, I'm ok with that.

10 Jorge De Jesus Romero, 24yrs, 9-0 (7), 118lbsRobeisy Ramirez, Duvergel, Frank Sanchez and Ramon Nicolas could very well be champs in the near future.
Machado and Forestal are the best prospects imo, I think one of the main problems has been the Cuban style of boxing business, they surround themselves with unethical, ignorant leeches that have robbed much of them of their best years.Right on the money. 100% agreed
if theres one thing ive learnt when following boxing is that if you bet against the cuban in a big fight youll make some money. they cant do it when it matters.
Sadly (for me, at least), this has been true in the modern era. But like anything else, it won’t last. A hero will rise...

Thanks for the research. I don’t know most of these guys, much less seen them fight. Leduan is Rances’s younger brother; and a watered-down version of big bro, if you ask me. I had some hopes for Socarras early, but I don’t think he’s going anywhere. I’ve heard good things about Machado, but I haven’t seen him in action.
There are currently no professional Cuban world champions, but there are still Cubans at the elite level. Lara remains up there, so he is elite. I would say Dorticos and Barthelemy deserve to be considered so in their respective weight classes. Rigo is MIA, but would normally still be considered elite. As for prospects and potential prospects, others have already mentioned all the names I’m familiar with. The period that brought us Gamboa, Rigondeaux and Solis, et al, has pretty much come and gone. Any future crop of Cubans is very dependent on political circumstances, so it’s anyones guess if or when we’ll see another wave. On a personal level, I’ve always wanted to see Robeisy Ramirez go pro. He’s 24 years old, fights aggressively, and is already a two time Olympic gold medalist.

Joahnys Argilagos, their #1 light flyweight (108 lbs), defected recently and will probably turn up in the pros soon. Frank Sanchez, the #2 heavyweight (200 lbs) behind Erislandy Savon, also defected within the last couple of years
Lara, Rigondeaux, Gamboa were all world champions two were unified world champions. Rances was a two weight world champion, Abril was a world champion that never lost his belt in the ring same with Yoan Pablo Hernandez. I wouldn't call them overrated. All those had 250-400 amateur fights most of them are past their physical prime before they turn pro.
What about Dorticos?
Cubans took major Ls the last couple years but there is some new talent coming up, Cubans in the 60’s-80s were serious business in the ams but the last crop was overrated.

There's Luis Garcia in the CW ranks who was a highly touted prospect that fought out of Ireland some years back and fell off the map, he's back and has a fight lined up.
Neslan Machado is an exciting prospect. Marcos Forestal is up & coming he had an extensive amateur background and fought in WSB.
