He has a lot of respect from his fellow YouTuber's, Ive heard Kugan put him on a bit of a pedestal before for being the originator, but apart from his stuff with the Garcia's. His interviews are generally not good.
I feel like a lot of these other guys are way more professional, are more talented, and generally better. I'm talking about IFL, Behind the Gloves (MJP), Radio Raheem, Marcos Villegas.
Some of Elie's interviews are not even complete, and the editing is poor, you would think he only just started doing this.
I'm not trying to attack the guy, but its like the game is passing him by.
He's autistic as f*ck too. I Liked how the Garcias and other people in at the goosen gym kept him around and we got to see a more in depth look at their life but man he's dumb. He got into boxing by mistake and he took advantage of it because till this day he still DKSAB.
Low quality, sh*t interviews, clickbait titles and horrible personality. The reason he still gets views is because he's really consistent with the uploads and with clickbaits he gets away with it.
He's not a god interviewer, asks silly questions, what bugs me aswell is that he spends so much time with hispanic/latino people yet he hasnt bothered to learn Spanish..... why???
He's not the smartest guy, but I do suspect its hard not to piss off people at times if you are being critical of them, as one should be in that industry to some degree.
I've heard it a million times such & such a promoter gets mad at writers/media dudes over some rather bland sh^t. Its sorta standard. Iole was just on Mannix's show talking about this sorta sh^t a week or so ago. Believe he said Oscar isn't talking to him now over some Canelo sh^t or something.
And Rousey is hyper sensitive so not getting her pissed of while merely being critical of her seems virtually impossible.
Idk, I don't do it, so I can't say... I'm just pointing out that one has to have thick skin in any sort of entertainment type business
As far as interviews I like Radio Raheem who clearly knows how to interview people and asks the good questions. Marcos from Fight Hub is good too. Ellie worked in Sports Media prior to covering Boxing but his Boxing knowledge is SUPER limited and is almost being taught on the spot based on questions he asks and comments he makes. He says things for borderline shock value and now is reposting old videos for hits on Youtube. To each his own of course, but it's hard for me to take him serious when he shows his clear bias for and against certain guys. That to me is simply a fan with a camera.
He acted like he wasn't sore about getting kicked out of Rousey's gym, but went on to bash her too later. I'm not fan of her, but really, if you're in a business like this, you should at least TRY to stay somewhat unbiased
Yep good channel, but they are a bit too defensive at times, and talk a bit too much, which a lot of them do, too much interrupting the fighters. Need to let the interview flow.
Sorry I I know that wasn't aimed at me, thought I'd butt in.
It's all good! But beside their interviews with fighters, what are your thoughts on their actual podcast.
What are your thoughts on ThaBoxingVoice? I like what they are doing but Matt hates to be wrong and Nestor sometimes gets too caught up in defending his opinions.

I can't really disagree with anything you are saying. But I will say on Elie's behalf his work rate is insane & thats the thing I respect most about him (+ ThaBoxingVoice podcast dudes), but he does have this curiosity that leads the way in his videos that can often give them a sorta charm if you are a boxing fan or not.

Not sure if good is the word anymore. He is committed, and has good access due to his own hard work, but I wouldn't describe him as good, and the fact that he hasn't really got better is frustrating.
You're right, committed is a better word, has good access to named gyms, but he really needs to up his game and stop with the d!ck riding sometimes.
Its such an advantage being one of the first though, he has so many subscribers, no way he should have fallen this far behind. He isn't an idiot either. I agree with a lot of your observations though, apart from access. Elie still has great access, he just doesn't take advantage.
Yeah the bias does come across, its embarrassing. How has this guy not spoken to a proper professional, got relevant feedback, etc. etc. As I said with the amount of hits he has received for a LONG time, the amount of subscribers, there is no excuse to still put out seriously budget videos.
He must have mental issues.
His views are dwindling badly though when you consider how many subscribers he has. He has just a little less than IFL in terms of subscribers but nowhere near the hits. I'm subscribed to him but i don't think i ever check the videos much because i know it's mostly going to be garbage and i'm sure others think the same when you consider he has nearly 300k subscribers and some videos get about 200 views. That an insane disparity when you consider the subscribers to views ratio.
He might get access and accreditation to events as a press person, but really is one to one access with relevant fighters or promoters is almost non existent, in comparison to people like IFL or Michelle at Behind The Gloves. He only has real access to the same few people.
Due to Elie being a little b1tch to a lot of people and biased opinions, i'd imagine a lot of fighters and promoters might think twice about one on one interviews.
Besides, i don't think he has the temperament, ability or personality to sit down with a guy like Eddie Hearn or someone and carry out a real constructed interview.
He might have been one of the first, but people have over taken him now.
The likes of IFL, Seconds Out, Behind The Gloves etc..all have better access, better content, better quality and better professionalism.
Elie at this point is just a fanboy with a camera phone, hanging around the same few places that accept him. He has too much of a biased opinion to be taken seriously as a boxing reporter.
Part of the problem is that he just comes across as a little weasel and sucks up to certain people.

I mean check out exhibit A. I think this was posted today, no beginning, no end, actually cuts off as Ward is still talking. The title is misleading, the sound sucks, way too much background noise. Too many interviews like this, why doesn't he just ask them for a one on one more often, everyone knows who he is. I find it mind boggling.

Some of his video views these days are only getting like 200 views, and the bigger ones around 15k if he's lucky. IFL do 15k within a few hours of uploading. So he's getting left behind now. Part of that is because he cuts his interviews into 10 pieces, i guess maybe it helps with revenue? but nobody can be bothered clicking through them when other channels have well produced full interviews.
He is very good and updates a lot, but some of the videos are quite poor quality, and some of the descriptions in the video like "sick power destroying the heavy bag", and then the fighter is just pitty patting the bag haha.

Absolutely.
I find his videos barely watchable. They are super long, filmed with a crap camera, and poorly edited.
The standard is higher now, and he hasn't kept pace.
Super long not necessarily a problem for me, the other things are. How did this guy not update his equipment, get a proper video editor, etc. He has so many subscribers, and been doing it for so long.
His access to the Garcia gym is pure gold, but he doesn't maximise the opportunity at all.
Even look at what the Mayweather Boxing Channel guys are doing, Jeff is so entertaining, and the guys behind the production understand that.
He’s biased, he hates kell brook and paquaio just to name a few, but all show a little favor to somebody dontae loves Floyd and and anybody black and I’m black but they should just be neautral if your going to b a true reporter

I know Elie Seckbach was the original, but his content and interviews are low quality | BoxingScene Community
