No. They are both Mexican boxers who fight from a right handed stance but they are different and Munguia is better. He is an undefeated world champion at age 21 with a record of I think 29 wins and 25 KOs.Margarito never had a record that good and was much older when he won a world title. I don't know if he has Margarito's iron jaw but from what little I saw of him fighting Ali but I think he hits much harder and is harder to hit than Margarito. He might not be able to match Margarito's 100+ punches thrown per round on average work rate but few boxers can. Munguia looks better than Margarito and will be very hard to beat.
Ever since the Ali fight ended, I've been saying Munguia needs to make his first defense against Margarito. Would be awesome to see El Ciclope going balls to the wall in one last title fight against a younger version of himself. This NEEDS to happen!
Yeah give Margarito the title shot he's been asking for. Put the old dog down once and for all.
What’s this talk about Ali being to “small”??? Everyone keeps saying it. They weighed 1 pound apart on HBO unofficial scales fight night. I don’t understand.
There was a noticeable size difference in the ring. Weight has nothing to do with someone being bigger. It works both ways too. I'm usually around 140 but I've noticed that I'm just a much bigger person than some people who outweigh me by 15-20 pounds.

Man . What you got against Margarito ? Why you wanna see him take a beating so bad ?

I agree with this and would also say that Munguia has better timing when dealing with someone quicker than him. It will be interesting to see how he takes a punch from a full-fledged 154 pounder. A couple of the punches Ali countered him with definitely got his attention, but Ali was just too small and hurt to make them count for real.

He fights nothing like Margarito, if anything he's a giant Gatti without the horrible defense? I don't really know since I haven't seen a lot of the guys fights but he wasn't hit too much last night.
Nope. Munguia has better skill than him and better punch placement.

I've only seen him once, but I don't think he fights anything like Margarito. He didn't come across as a volume puncher that breaks people down over time. I would need to see more of him. It's very possible that Ali just totally overlooked the guy and was expecting a showcase fight. Ali never really recovered from that first knockdown.
He the same size as Paul Williams and the scary part is he still growing.
This kid is a nightmare match up 154-160. He might even grow into 168 down the road and we might get a david benavidez/ munguia showdown!
