Talksport talking to Joshua before the Haye bellew fight on wilder ..
“It will definitely happen , definitely, the only thing is I can’t sign my life away, but it’s going to happen”
When questioned more specifically will it happen next?
“Yes, it’s definately happening we just need to iron the details”
"It will definitely happen, definitely...
the only thing is I can’t sign my life away."
LMAO this coward and his buts. Disgusting pig.
Not really sure why or how you think that is cowardice. He was very clear he wanted he fight and expected the fight - but he wouldn't be signing a contract which was silly basically.
He said "you can't offer me a buyout fee and take control of the fight"
"We are not talking about finance anymore I'm aware there is big financial gain in this fight so let's put that aside"
Same man that said "give me $50M and I swear I will fight "
Can't take what he says seriously anymore I'll believe it when the fight is signed
Hearn is a smart guy. I gotta figure he's got some idea already how this 50M number is real & where the money would be coming from...assuming it is real cuz I know a lot of guys don't believe it is.
And if its a real number, but the math doesn't make sense to profit based on expectations then I don't think Hearn gots to abide by the 50M number for Joshua or the 70M+ purses for both.
Hearn knew the $50m was real. I think it's more of a case of him wondering how big the deal is being structured ("Hey, but what's Deontay getting?") and protecting himself as a promoter ("So these guys can offer me $50m but you're only offering me $30m? Where's the rest of the bread going, Eddie?").
This is why the conversation has moved to who is in control. Obviously the offer is real but the caveat is Hearn loses control of the promotion. So Hearn has got to find a way, which isn't easy because the American PPV could represent a significant amount of coin and that disappears if the fight is in the UK. And if he can't find a way, don't be surprised if Joshua fights in the US before the match. I guess we'll see.
So its happening, but maybe not next? Is that the reading between the lines everyone else is getting? Maybe next, but maybe not next is what I'm hearing.
Catch-22 for Joshua. They want to control the promotion, but the fight doesn't generate anywhere near as much if it takes place in the UK. Can Hearn guarantee Joshua $50m and Wilder $20m+ to keep the fight at home? A rock and a hard place.
I've got no issues with him wanting to know the date, the venue, and all of that good stuff. He is still the A-side and does get to dictate terms. Long as the fight is next I am a happy fan.
He said Wilder is next twice.
At the beginning of the interview he said he won't be signing his life away, he wants to know the devil of the details before signing. Both himself and Wilder want it.
