Odds so far range between 1/6-1/8
Seems really wide, how do they think Rigo had more of a shot?

I mean, yeah, the odds and most opinion on here suggest a mismatch, but Linares is probably the #1 lightweight in the world, with Mikey kinda in between divisions. Hard to see who else Loma should be fighting in his first at 135. Easter maybe?
Which fight would you have liked to see assuming Mikey was unavailable?
You're right, the pickings are truly slim. Still, I see Linares as a backward step for Loma.
Loma wouldn't be favored over crawford. He may be a slight favorite over mikey
at 147 you're right. but if Loma and Bud were to fight at 135 Loma would definitely be the favorite.
Waste of Loma's time. I'll root hard for an upset!

The odds may actually widen in a few weeks or so. Linares isn't that good at all.
Yeah, Linares is officially a bum now! (After having signed the contract for this fight).
Seems about right
I’d be suprised it competitive or if Linares gets the W
Let’s be real though both are fighting each other because neither of their teams want Any part of Mikey
Loma would also be a favorite vs Mikey. he'll pretty much be the favorite vs anybody you name. but expect Loma haters to begin shredding Linares apart. it's what they do. Arum would never allow this doe. . Loma is head n shoulders above Crawford for the P4P spot. Period.

Linares never really won a big fight in his career. In fact his losses weren't even supposed to be big fights, they were just developing fights, showcase fights, and he still lost. His fights that made people believe in him, Crolla, Mitchell, were against low-eurolevel journeymen. Then there's Arakawa, Gesta and Campbell. Really not 1 fighter that sticks out.
Lomachenko beat Walters, Rigondeaux, Russell Jr, Sosa, Martinez, pretty much top 10 guys who were actually dangerous and seen as good fighters.
That's your take on things and that's fine. But I remember the hype regarding rigo. Many thought he was close to number 1 and p4p top 5 in terms of skills. Antonio demarco is not a journeyman? I guess we have different definitions of journeyman. I also said after rigo loses, people would say he had no good wins and was overrated. Can you imagine what people would say after linares loses? Lomo gets zero credit for this win.
There really weren't "many" who claimed him in top5. A few idiots is not something to base your rankings on. I didn't do a good search, but here's June 2017 ESPN's P4P - they have him at #10. Find me a decent source that has him that high. There really weren't any.
I said Rigo is overrated way before the Lomachenko fight was announced, let alone occured. Here's a post from April 2017

And here's a post from 2016 saying the same thing.
For me, a win over Linares would be TONS better than Rigo. Rigo was in fact old and small. Linares is in his prime, same size as Loma, and I value his skills greatly.
Gotta give Linares some credit for finally stepping up and not facing another euro level guy
He has the style to give Loma some trouble because of his speed and length but Loma will expose Linares' weak defence with superior timing and punch selection
I see your point. I think the actual fight will be a mismatch. Are you betting on Linares winning? If so, we could do a points bet, if you like.
No.
Lomachenko is in a different league to a guy like Linares.
I see them shortening, at least in the UK market. Sky are always gushing over Linares and British fans have now seen him beat Mitchell, Crolla and Campbel, so they'll be inclined to bet on him.

Hope all you want but the arrogant midget is the best boxer in the world and linares will soon realize that
That is why it is called a major upset if Linares beat 5'5 Lomachenko.
I really don't understand how Rigo was top 5 off 1 win years ago...
It never made sense to me.
Me neither. I also felt the people picking him were doing so more based on feelings of irrational dislike for Loma and eastern European fighters and also a way of some casual fans trying to prove how hardcore and hip they are because Rigo's skills are so much more sophisticated. Loma shut him down completely on skill and proved a lot of folks right about Rigo and totally wrong on Loma.
I hope Linares pulls an upset. I hope he knocks out that Arrogant Midget.
