P4p rankings based on resume

p4p is based on what have you done for me lately. If you were great 5 years but are now losing to contenders and journeyman you are no longer p4p.

On resume alone it's Manny and it's not even close. Since he is at thetail end if his career a P4P list based on resume is misleading.

Seriously how did these guys not list him? I know he’s nearing the end of his career but damn he’s still in headlines all the time here on NSB. But still I’m just gonna assume they forgot about the legend and weren’t disrespecting him. He lost to horn.

Jeff Horn is precisely why P4P should be about resume + skills. Not just one or the other but both.

Crawford has cleaned out two divisions and became the first boxer in over a decade to win all four in a division. That is good to have on a resume. He collected four trinkets in a weak division against decent opposition. There's a few ways to look at this.

Based solely on quality of opponents beaten, Manny, Gonzales, Rungvisai, Usyk and Canelo would be the top 5.

But elite fighters often pass the eye test with flying colors against weak opposition and look not so invincible against better competition. This list isn't about who one thinks is the best, but who has the best resume. Other than these six, it is hard to find anyone who has a resume that deserves to put him on a p4p list. Who else deserves on this list based on their resume alone? (A decision and a ko count for the same.) If you're gonna go that route, why not use Boxrec's P4P, that's pure resume - of course you may disagree with the algorithms they use, or want to tweak some of the (in)activity or weak opponent weightings, but given the limitations of a computerised list it could be worse.
