I swear everyone was ready to crucify Ortiz and saying the fight was rightfully cancelled...but it seems people take canelo's excuse at face value and want the fight to go ahead.
After listening to Steve Kim? Lmao. How is he a reliable source? He’s nothing in boxing and don’t know anything about drug cycling.
Conte is just all over the place he basically said Canelo is a cheater a few weeks back and in one of his statements today
Kim had Conte on as a guest and Conte gave his opinion on it wasn’t really Kim chiming in giving his opinion
Kim used to get on my nerves but for podcast guys he’s consistent, knows the sport and gives his take even though he’s biased there’s a sh.it load I don’t agree with him on but for me he’s better then 90% of the podcast guys
Like I said I don’t know much about PEDs but after reading a couple articles, listening to Conte and knowing that a sh.it load of Mexican athletes have popped for the same thing I tend to believe the excuse
I’ll be honest I don’t know much about PEDs
But with a long list of Mexican athletes testing positive for it and after listening to Victor Conte on the Steve Kim Podcast I’ll believe the excuse
But yeah agree from what I’ve read/listened to it is powerful drug but when supposedly 25-30% of Mexican slaughterhouses test positive for it l. I think a case can be made that it wasn’t deliberate
Especially in trace amounts
Again I wouldn’t be suprised if he did it deliberately but for me it’s not a smoking gun he cheated knowingly

What I'm wondering is whether the question of intent is actually relevent here - and it kinda depends on what the doping regulations are trying to achieve. Like most criminal justice systems the anti-doping rules seem to try to roll several different functions into one package. Is the purpose to protect the health of athletes (both potential PED users and their opponents)? Is it to ensure a 'level' playing field (ie 'fairness) within the sport? Is is it to punish 'cheats' - a form of moral and ethical judgement? Is the intent of the doping rules to serve as a deterent? With a lack of clarity on this question a coherent policy becomes almost impossible to achieve. If you're punishing guys for wrong-doing you really have to establish intent - 'guilt' if you like - or at least a high probability thereof. If you're trying to protect the fighters health, the intent is not really relevent - the cut-offs should be set to a level at which the PED can cause a significant risk to health. Ditto with 'fairness' - although the line is more blurred here from a moral standpoint, and the quantities may be different from those at which there can be long term health damage (to the user, that is- obviously the opponents health can be harmed by any level of PED use that offers a significant performance advantage).
First off, everyone seems very suspicious of Canelo. There are about 10 different threads already about Canelo being a cheat. Second, the tainted meat story is plausible. It is supposedly possible to eat meat with whatever this is in it, especially in Mexico. They allege the level is consistent with contaminated meat and not with cheating. So it is possible Canelo did not cheat.
For Ortiz or anyone else on blood pressure meds or any other meds, there are forms you fill out where you list the medications you take. That way as long as it is legit and the levels are at the prescribed amount, the testing people know. Why the hell would anyone not list all the meds they are legitimately taking??? I know boxers aren't the smartest bunch, but they ask you what meds you take specifically so no one gets in trouble for not wanting a stroke. Even if it wasn't cheating, a fighter should be suspended or even banned for life, for showing such dramatic brain injury that they risk half a million dollars and his entire career by being too lazy to write down Clenbuterol or whatever it is.
c'mon man..Canelo is very rich.. he has all the money to buy organic meat..he said it himself one time that nobody eats like him..almost all organic..
Cyclists also use Celbuterol & they get banned for it.
It's clearly a PED!

Both were made out to be a big deal on here. Wilder got more heat and blame because of who’s hes associated with
Both Ortiz and Canelo had valid excuses
Honestly top end fighters shouldn’t ever be busted even if they are dirty because they have the $ and knowledge at their disposal
With Canelo though there are many Mexican boxers and elite athletes getting popped for Clenbuterol so to me it’s not even a big deal

It probably didn't help that he was caught before too. But just from a scientific standpoint, both excuses are plausible...but bet that Canelo vs ggg will go ahead and all the powers that be will ride with that excuse.
Oh, he'll "officially" get away with it, no doubt. Which is a shame.
Ortiz has already failed multiple drug tests for steroids and been suspended so folks were dubious when he failed yet another drug test. Canelo has a clean history no failed tests and then got caught with small traces consistent of tainted meat and he lives in apparently the tainted meat capital of the world. lol
If you go to court and you have a wrap sheet you are repeat offender you are treated more harshly. That's life.
Indeed. I just remember watching that video with conte saying the Ortiz thing was legit from his point of view and could have been easily dealt with. I guess in either situation I just want to see the fights happen for my own selfishness. We ended up getting wilder Ortiz anyway, but at the time I was bummed...just like I will be if this fight gets cancelled/delayed.
No one brought Ortiz excuse because for one that was his second time, and his excuse of not informing the authorities what he was taking doesn’t make sense. Just like Canelo tainted meat excuse, that excuse doesn’t make any sense.

There might be one or two, but they'll be posters you can never take seriously. Wilder on the other hand got majority of the blame on here for the fight not happening back then.

He is getting his ass kicked on here, but there's a fair share of posters defending him, and buying the tainted meat story.

Who is taking Canelo's excuse at face value? I'm not seeing it.
