Canelo is going to get away with testing positive

Because of his massive popularity in the sport they will excuse him. "Tainted meat" excuses are already being thrown around. Boxing needs to make an example of him. The sport has been corrupt and a joke to the outside world for too long. If they punish the biggest name in the sport people might actually take notice. At the very least they should give him the Luis Ortiz treatment - suspend him and allow Golovkin the choice on whether or not he still wants to fight him. It won't happen though. Watch him walk free and the boxing world come to his defense.

Povetkin was put to the flames for trace amounts in his system.... this is no differnt. The only difference is that Canelo is a cash cow here and will of course be protected. GGG will fight him anyway, it is too much of a payday to pass up.

Several fighters have previously had positive test results dismissed or had drug test suspensions vacated because it has been known for years that cows in Mexico and China are treated with Clenbuterol. Eating meat from those countries has caused trace amounts of Clen to show up in drug tests many times before. This isn't something ODLH invented today. Yes, Canelo should have been more responsible. But ultimately the likelihood that this was caused inadvertently is so high that it strikes me as non-issue.

He will likely get no punishment. USADA have accepted the tainted meat excuse for low levels of clen in cases where UFC fighters have been in China or Mexico. A fighter was recently suspended for 4 years for forging travel documents trying to make out he was in Mexico.

I think we all should be worried that this will become the norm and the playing field will be massively unfair for fighters who aren't A side and can't get away with doping and masking (like Mayweather did). What does Clenbuterol do anyway? does help a person lose weight? build muscle? makes a person faster? stronger? please help me understand
