How was Manny mandatory for Floyd's title fresh off going the distance against Algieri, getting knocked out cold by Marquez, and losing to Timothy Bradley? Who the hell knows. Point is it happened. Don't matter whether you as a fight fan agree with the #1. The stats on fight night are all that matter. They had the guys at the top - who knows why? Who cares? Fact is, they were both ranked at the top when they fought. In any event, none of this matters. This isn't about Eubank, it's about Groves. He got HANDLED TWICE by Carl Froch - sparked. Fairly certain it was WBC, since Eubank was International champion for the fight even though it wasn't up. The top of the food chain isn't dictated by you OR him. If the org feels like a guy like Reginaldo Dos Santos is #1, that's the way it goes.
