Here is the thing though, when you say he is better then they could ever be you are exhibiting bias, now he can very well be better than they will ever be but both guys are undefeated and fighting top level competition you can't possibly know what the future holds for them.
When Holyfield was the Cruiserweight champion he only reigned over half the possible competitors, you didn't have professional Cuban fighters or eastern European/communist countries fighters. These guys right now are fighting everyone in the world. If you will just assume that Holyfield is the best that there ever was and ever will be then there is no reason to debate.
Whoever wins is moving up. The money is at Heavyweight so whoever makes history in May will be moving up shortly after. There were also more American fighters in that division then at a time when America had top heavyweights too.
I like Usyk a lot. I think he's great but you can't watch him fight and watch Holyfield fight and come to the conclusion Usyk is better. Holyfield is one of the best fighters of the last half century - period. Cruiserweight is where he was most dominant and the opposition was very good. Qawi for example would be hell for any of today's guys and so to would DeLeon. I doubt Briedis or Dorticos gives Evander much difficulty. Usyk is the one due to style, movement, volume I can see troubling Holyfield but certainly not beating him.
Sometimes even if the resume is close it can come down to who the better fighter was. Holyfield was better than Usyk or Gassiev could ever be. He's basically as far out at Cruiser as the goat as Finito Lopez is to straweight.

I see, I remember most of his work at heavyweight, please excuse my ignorance as i am not overly familar with the cruiserweights of the 80. But surely usyk and Gasiev are doing something similar especially the winner would have a loaded resume of excellent cruiserweights, especially if Usyk wins. He will have, Glowacki, Huck, Briedis and Gassiev, none of these guys are pushovers though Huck is past his prime, but the rest aren't and are undefeated.

David Gaye shouldn't be near the top. He got whupped by an ancient Carl Thompson and beat Mormeck and the fairly average Macirenelli. James Toney has a much better case as does DeLeon. Gassiev, Usyk and Huck all have a better case too
Of course he is. He's the GOAT at cruiser. Won all three belts from 3 separate champions including winning the title in his 12th fight against a formidable HOF fighter like Qawi. DeLeon was no joke too. Holyfield beat excellent competition and even destroyed Qawi in a re-match.

Agree with this. Ocassio was a strong win as well. Tillman was solid as well.
Holyfield wasn't really an ATG cruiserweight, he was an ATG heavyweight.

The winner would be #2. Neither guy would ever be better than Holyfield, but I think the winner would have to go to #2.

Yo retard his reasoning for saying Mormeck was no good is that he lost 7 times. By his reasoning Pacquiao is trash. HIS not mine.
Haye being one of the best cruiserweights ever, name 3 top 5 cruiserweights he beat?
Usyks resume is already deeper than Haye's was at Cruiserweight.

momeck can be trash while pacquiao is not. haye, too. they'll be completely forgotten in 20 years. retard doe.
maybe my post was a reaction to your bias against pacquiao and siding with floyd mayweather virtually any time it is possible. maybe you understand that pacquiao was actually an all time great and that you acted like akid for 5-7 years pretending he was not?
Pacquiao lost 7 times, i guess he was **** too. :dunce:
GTFOH you simpleton.
pacquiao also climbed from a malnourished 100 lb kid to beat up one of the most durable welterweights i have ever seen. surely you see the gap in some forgotten-in-10-years cruiserweight's resume when you compare the two :lol1:
I think they would be desreveing of the status but lets not forget a lot of the old fighters get overated and new fighters achievments get underrated.
meh, that's just not true. ever read up on old fighters? you really think david f#cking haye haye and olexander usyk stack up to their accomplishments?
ray robinson had over 200 fights. harry greb had close to 300. both fought several times a month in spots.
ali fought literally everybody from two eras on either side of vietnam, when HW boxing was one of the biggest sports in the world and the biggest payday if you got to the championship level.
so yeah, you're full of **** if you think olexander usyk and david haye compare to that.
ther'es one "cruiserweight" who is an all time great, evander holyfield, and his accomplishments worth talking about in an all time great or a historic context took place at HW.
all time great? this word gets thrown around too often. just call him a "top 10 cruiserweight all time." you're insulting the guys on an "ATG" list with 100+ fights and victories over hall of famers.
there's basically been no sustained greatness at CW. the "great cruiserweights" are basically one guy, evander holyfield, and he was a HW and that's the only reason most of you even remember his name.
FFS you're 200 lbs. most of those guys are well over 6' and have 75+ inches of reach. some even cut weight and balloon back up over 210 in the ring. you're a HW. you're big enough to hurt your opponents. you might need more than one big shot, but unless you're a pleb a pro boxer who is fit and weighs 200 lbs has the power to hurt you. just fight there and make the money.
some of these guys would give joshua problems. if you beat that guy, or do well enough to earn a rematch, you're set for life on money. you never have to fight again if you don't want to. i don't know if they really understand that.

No. Haye was a far better fighter imo. Neither would be able to handle the CW Hayemaker.
Mormeck ahead of them too.Haye was almost 24 years old when a 40 year old cruiserweight stopped him in 5 rounds. Moreck lost 7 times and was KOed 3 times.Neither Haye nor Mormeck were as good at cruiserweight as Usyk or Gassiev. Your bias in favor of UK boxers and against Eastern European boxers is stupid and wrong.

Bellew fought Haymaker Haye, he's not afraid of Gassiev or Usyk. There's levels to this game. We all need to be honest for once.
David Haye sucks and has always sucked major balls.
