When did the Eastern myth start?

Love boxing too much to worry about what nationality or race is dominating it. Stick to pure boxing, none of that other stuff.

All of a sudden, there was this weird myth that Eastern Europeans were taking over boxing. What started that myth? When old fat Lewis knocked prime Vitali's head open? When Ward schooled Kovalev twice and made people whine? When Bradley defeated Provodnikov? When Easter defeated Shafikov? When Indongo destroyed Troyanovski in 1 round? Seriously, I don't see it, I just don't see it. I love Eastern Europe. They are great people, great to have a party with, sexy women as well. They are also very intelligent. So don't take this for hatred or anything. But honestly, they were never the dominant force in boxing. Blacks are, have always been and will always be... It's genetics, man, hating it won't change it. Jacobs didn't get robbed against GGG, who is not Eastern European by the way.

I never heard of that most ppl know Latinos dominate boxing Latinos are nothing in the most relevant divisions (the big divisions), except Ramirez.

Eastern Euros have great genetics for fighting. Cardio is the most important thing when it comes to fighting and all those ripped black guys have terrible cardio. You can see which type of athleticism is superior in fights like Froch vs Taylor. Look at Usyk, Golovkin and Provodnikov and the insane pace that they are able to fight at without tiring. It's no coincidence that Eastern Europe is also home to the greatest animal on the planet the brown bear which represents the same power, explosiveness and endurance combination as the typical Eastern Euro fighter. A bear can run at top speed for miles while African cheetahs get tired quickly. Thats where a lot of the talent is coming from. Its undeniable. Every relevant promoter is signing guys with names you can't pronounce. Up until the last few years, so many of these guys who were great just didn't turn pro. Now that is changing and there are several reasons, but that main reason is Gennady Golovkin. And this doesn't mean there isn't a lot of talent elsewhere. Boxing is a global sport. I'm actually glad that the popularity of boxing for kids in the United States has gone down. Who the hell wants their kid of get their brains bashed in? Play safer sports, focus on education, etc.

European fighters have EARNED the right to be in the mix, just like other origins, and will continue to be top fighters and world champions and PFP ranked as long as boxing exists, much to the chagrin of haters.

They took over the entire top half of boxing for a decade (everything above MW), but we can basically call that the "lost decade". Western media refused to cover hundreds of great fights & heavily promoted the smaller divisions, despite the action being generally dull. Ironically the "life" down there being another foreign nemesis -- Pacquaio. & the average US boxing fan isn't exactly going to call them out on it or act enthused about the heroes he worshiped as a kid being exposed as mediocre/uncompetitive on the global scale. Just the best in a handful of US states, not the best in the world. Even many on this forum still live in denial.

What myth are you talking about? Well, estearn euros fighters aren't unbeatable if that is what you mean. Same goes for western fighters: Foreman wasn't unbeatable, Ali wasn't, Tyson wasn't, Chavez wasn't, Lewis wasn't, Oscar wasn't, Joe Louis wasn't, the list goes on. They sure are the most dominant force in boxing in young/amateur classes. And so they have the best prospects.... Maybe the "hype/myth" is coming from that point.

If you think Bredis is more impressive, fine. He is also older and it could be argued is on the downside of his career while Postol was peaking. I'm just asking that you not lower Postol when making an assessment of who is the top p4p boxer. Postol is older and I think they were about the same age at their respective losses. Postol has more miles on the clock and is at a weight where the fighters typically peak sooner so all that is fairly irrelevant. Both were very good champions. I am in no way lowering Postol. I am stating that I think a few guys are better fighters. There's no evidence to suggest Briedis is on the downside. He arguably just had his best performance and Postol looked like ass in his last fight and may lose his next fight.

Postol is not great, but to suggest he is not a top tier opponent when Crawford beat him is not honest. Nobody is suggesting that he's not top tier. A number of people picked him over Lucas though he was an underdog. The point is that I think Briedis is a better fighter on a p4p level based on the eye test and who I'd bet on to have a better career moving forward. Being not as good as Usyk or Briedis isn't the equivalent of saying he's not top tier.

Yes, and Briedis was unbeaten before this weekend and a more impressive fighter than Postol. I think Postol is underrated and clearly good. I am a big Crawford fan. MUCH more so than GGG and more than Loma just. Bud is my favorite active fighter. He was a 7-1 favorite over Postol. I went to Vegas and two of my friends wanted to bet Postol and I said he has like 1% chance of winning. If you think Bredis is more impressive, fine.
