Both had 20 knockouts at 23 wins.
Spence gained that record in 5 years, Golovkin in 6 years.
Spence gained that record at age 28, Golovkin at age 29.
Spence gained that record against guys like Brook, Peterson, Algieri and Bundu. Golovkin against guys like Bouadla, Simon, Ouma and Gardner.
Honestly, it's unfair to Spence when you compare him with Golovkin. The numbers and relative quality of competition says it all. Spence is progressing far faster than Golovkin did.
Comparing the career paths of the two is insane and retarded. Spence is an american bred fighter who had the right promoters and managers from the start. He was groomed to be a star in america. NOT GGG.
Pretty much this. His promoters in Germany kept him away from all champs, wasting a good 2 years of his time. Then he sued them, which wasted another year.
Spence was lucky that Kell Brook had balls and he's American. Or rather, that's how it should be for fighters. Golovkin was unlucky to be from a small nation and going pro late.
If Golovkin went pro much earlier (like Pac for example), he could have started at WW and gotten to where he is now by the time he was ~26-30.
You really need to read a post properly before you answer to it.
I said that those are the 4 best guys Golovkin had beat through his first 23 fights, not through his entire career.
My point is that Spence is making progress at a much faster rate, which no one would be able to rationally deny.
By the age of 23 Fernando Vargas had fought Raul Marquez, Winky Wright and Felix Trinidad. Big deal. Wilfredo Benetiz was world champion at 17. Big deal. What is the point of this thread?
Yeah I actually like him too. Pressure fighters are good to watch.
But he ain't done sh*t, he fights infrequently and he isn't getting any younger....
yes, he is gonna be 28 next month, he isn't a kid anymore, and his next fight will be most likely against a no name. at this rhythm, PBC rhythm, he'll be closer to 30 before another big fight.
Yeah It's odd that Spence gets so much hype for fighting bums....
Plus he doesn't even fight very often...
And who turns down a fight with cotto to fight pederson??
i like him, he is bound to be in very exciting fights, but he got so much hype, is funny that the same people complained about matthysse but don't say nothing about this.bundu, algieri, peterson, none of them can crack and he already is in the top 10 p4p list of many. give me a break :lol1:
GGG has been champion for 8 years, defended his title 19 times, holds 3 major belts and is still undefeated and is taking part in the clean boxing program for many years now.
Spence is champion for 6 months, holds one major belt and defended his title once and is one of the few world champions out there who is NOT enrolled in the VADA Clean Boxing Program.
Any other questions?
Danny Jacobs and Canelo are better than anyone on Spence's resume
spence aint bout to be 36 though....and there arent many close, disputed, wins on spences resume either
Golovkin was being crowned an ATG and P4P top 3 when his best win was Martin Murray. Golovkin was way more hyped. Spence already has better wins than Golovkin.
WW Brook >>>>> Jacobs
Peterson >>>>>> Lemieux
You're gonna get some teenage wrists cutted by writing such harsh truths...

Golovkin left his old management team Universum for that very reason. His career wasn't progressing. He couldn't get fights against the top guys. So he left them joined K2 and moved to the States.
Interesting comparison. Question. Why compare a WW and a MW who have no connection to each other whatsoever? Spence is fortunate to be in a division that has been red hot for several years including now, while MW has just started to get interesting within the past year or so. There's more quality wins to be had as a WW than a MW.
Anyway I like the pace Spence is going and I hope to see more of him soon and hope he becomes big.
If Spence was born in Kazakhstan like GGG where do you think he would stand right now? He would be lucky to have a regular job since he was pretty average as an amateur fighter and would have never gotten the chance to turn pro.
He is 35, and going to 36 this April.
Golovkin was the ''boogieman'' ever since he beat Tapia in 2010, yet he wasn't the Super WBA Champ. How come it took the WBA 4 years to enforce a mando with Geale? Or rather, how come K2 didn't push for the mando after a year or two? That all dates to 2010-2011. It's 2018. Golovkin was 28 in 2010...
Saul Alvarez will be 28 after Charlo this year.
Is Nelo prime now?
Camelot is still improving so no
the ultimate fantasy post! pick some arbitrary starting point in order to prove a guy much less proven is actually better or going to be better than a guy who is currently way more accomplished. lets compare loma to everyone in boxing history...well hes on pace to be best ever!

GGG destroyed Brook, so Spence could win against him. If Brook had not fought GGG, Brook would have smashed Spence.
What? lol spence broke his other eye. Has nothing to do with golovkin
