What are you describing as "athletic"? I see him as being highly technique-driven. "Athletic" tends to describe guys like Roy and Pacquiao who do unusual things which rely on physical gifts more than technique. The things Loma does now, he should be able to do in 5, or even 10 years because they are rooted in technique, not athleticism.
No, Loma is not the most athletic white boxer ever.
I like where you're going with this. It's a very good point as far as boxing speak and what we're actually talking about. Still, I'll credit Lomachenko as a "pure athlete" because I think he could play the role of the explosive, oustide guy a little more (than he needs to) due to his ability to fight at any range of his choosing.
Sad. Lomachenko is one of the most athletic boxers ever regardless of race. The "White" thing has no place here or anywhere. Fastest? Most explosive? That's a completely different discussion but there are few guys who are/were as physically gifted as he. Without a doubt Lomachenko is one of the most ambidextrous, balanced, controlled boxers I've ever seen - in transition, in the middle of the chaos. He's frighteningly athletic with impressive speed.
I didn't say age doesn't matter, but different fighters age differently. Hopkins got off to a late start and didn't have an amateur career outside of his prison fights.
Rigo wasn't in any life and death battles that would have aged him beyond his 37 years. He is a very well-preserved 37 is what I am saying.
De La Hoya retired at age 35, and he was an old 35 when he retired, having been in several tough wars with Mosley, Pac, Hopkins, etc. Those fights aged him prematurely.
Floyd remained fresh at 40 because he was never in any knock down drag out fights of his 50 fights, so he remained a young 40, compared to say Pac, who is two years younger but aged quicker from tough fights.
And Mayweather & Hopkins are freaks of nature who took exceptional care of their bodies.
To expect anybody to be like that is like expecting NFL quarterbacks to be good at 40 just because Tom Brady & Peyton Manning did it.
Yes, wars can help to speed up decline, but there's also the natural decline that comes in the mid to late 30s for most people, regardless of their style or their sport even. It happens in every sport
Hey, I always argue against people saying this.
My stance is that GGG is not in his prime anymore and people claiming that his "decline" is just because he's facing better competition are being disingenous
Bernard Hopkins is called "The Alien" because no one's ever done what he's done before
There's a reason pro athletes don't start at 35.
We dont look at the NBA, NFL, MLB and see a bunch of dudes just getting started at 35.
Birthdays matter. The human body has a peak and once you pass that peak, you're generally in decline.

I was just ball busting. Somehow ggg is still at his absolute peak at 35 doe...

Tough fights age you faster than birthdays. Hence the reason certain fighters are shot by their mid to late thirties while others still have a lot left in the tank. Rigo never had tough fights. So he is a young 37. Hopkins didn't see his biggest wins until after the age of 37.

LMAO, are you listening to yourself, the "youngest 37 year old to ever step in a ring" Are you serious?
Dude 37, is 37. Yeah, it's best to have not taken tons of beatings, but there's no such being in your prime as an athlete at 37, especially when you're a smaller boxer.
If that was the case, boxing would be full of guys who just got started at age 30 & now are in their primes at 40.
No, he became faded when he became 37 years old, just like virtually every other athlete in the history of the world.
Most athletes are retired by 37.

Faded? He only had 18 fights. It's not as though he had the resume of a DLH who had been through some tough battles. Rigo was the youngest 37 year old to ever step into the ring. Very well preserved, and lots of his fans thought he was going to school Loma. He also had the opportunity to fight Loma at 126 and for more money, but he ducked.

he was indeed...but he only became faded once he signed to fight loma.

Of course Sergio Martinez is White?
What else would he be?
He's from Argentina, and has a Spanish last name.
He might have a very, very small amount of Amerindian blood, but there wasn't a large native population in Argentina, and not a lot of intermixing, like there was in Mexico, or Northern South America, and Central America. Maidana is mostly Amerindian blood doe..
That's like saying RIGO isn't a black man because he's Hispanic, and Cuban.
Canelo is another - he probably has like 3-11% Amerindian DNA. And 90ish% White, European DNA. In that, his blood is mostly made up of WHIte, EUROPEAN, SPANISH CONQUISTADORS. those who conquered and colonized Mexico, and forced the Spanish language.
No one cares about your stupid race **** on a boxing forum you insecure racist, lomachenko is obviously white anyone who says otherwise is a troll and you're being trolled
floyd was undisputed beating baldomir. its just that baldomir refused to pay sanctioning fees. then he also beat judah. if thats not undisputed nothing is. and like I said you can tear apart any resume if thats what you set out to do. just how ppl say ray leonard beat an out of shape duran in rematch then got a gift vs hagler. any resume can be ripped to shreds I dont care who it is. the thing is this name one boxer from floyds era that defeated the same level of comp he did?
he didn't fight any of them at their "best"? now what does that even mean. this "prime" talk is out of control because if you wanna be realistic floyd hasn't been "prime" since he began suffering horrible hand injuries. and that was more than 10 years ago. yet he continued to beat these guys. so Imma need you to define "prime". does it strictly have to do with being young? cuz if thats the case canelo was at his absolute prime vs floyd yet detrators say he was "green". explain "prime".
again Im not saying loma is not capable. but he doesn't have the same big name opponents that floyd had to choose from. corey spinks was also undipusted so you must rank him above floyd then? quality of competition means more for a legacy than undisputed. period. for example if crawford was to beat thurman that one win alone would be his biggest accomplishment even bigger than undisputed at 140. loma doesn't have the names available.
You yourself tried to make a case against Loma's opponents...Walters had a long layoff, Rigo too old or small, etc. Now you don't want to acknowledge that Floyd's opponents were never at their best. Oscar was past his prime, Cotto was coming off back to back beatdowns from Margo and Pac, JMM coming up two weight classes for a CW that Floyd didn't bother to honor, Judah coming off a loss to Baldomir, Pac clearly lost a step in a fight that Floyd admits he "marinated" for five years, Canelo's best win was Trout, I mean come on. I can go on.
No matter how you try to spin it, Floyd was never undisputed champion at any weight class. Never!
Floyd benefited from big names that were faded. He cashed in on those big names while they weren't at their best. He also had a brilliant PR and marketing machine behind him that hyped up B-rate fighters like Ortiz, Guerrero, Maidana, Berto. Got his 50th win over a guy with a 0-0 record in professional boxing. That about sums up his legacy.
What other white boxers demonstrate that same special speed? If you watch his amateur fights in the Olympics you can really see how fast he is.
He’s probably both the fastest and most athletic. Certainly the most athletic IMO.
Willie Pep and Benny Leonard were both very fast especially relative to their era’s
Floyd never fought any of them at their best. So your argument is null and void. His legacy is smoke and mirrors, fodder for casuals who drink up his self-congratulatory "0", that was built upon B-rate fighters and elites who were never at their best. If Loma becomes undisputed champ at any weight he will already accomplish something Floyd never bothered to do.

loma cannot surpass floyds legacy. impossible. theres no big name opponent out there that'll put him on the map. mikey vs loma is a harcore fans dream it will not crossover into mainstream. floyd had an endless choice of big name opponents. and you can pick apart the wins on any boxers resume if you focus on that. just like some people say rigo was old, inactive and small. walters was inactive and oh yeah the shadow of salido hanging over loma like a black cloud. you can destroy any resume if you put your mind to it.
cotto, canelo, mosley, de la hoya, marquez & pacquiao are wins loma could never match. not because hes not capable but there are no opponents on this level out there for him.
floyd benefited from a deep talented hall of fame era.

In case you didn't notice I was replying to a Floyd fanboy. Context is everything.
