First fight, Ward got dropped, fight was close and most thought Kov won by a round or two.
Second fight, fight was competitive but Kov was winning until Ward shocked him with a series of bizarre nutshots that led to a "KO".
Ward is not better than Kovalev and did not school him, stop with the nonsense.
lets be real here, the first fight was close and Ward pulled a hell of a comeback. I thought it was an excellent bout and I have no real complaints.
That being said, Kov fanboys are acting like they watched Lewis vs Holyfield
I'm really surprised by your post. I usually agree with most of your points, but I don't agree at all about this. The second fight was close, before the straight right. Kov was finished after that shot and wanted out. I can't decide if you really believe that or you just hate Ward.
He literally has an excuse for anytime he is wrong about a fight, he has formed his own reality
the second fights been revised into some sort of beatdown but i think i had it even at the time of 'stoppage'. People can say 'kovalev was tired, he was hurt' but it was a result of illegal shots. Its amazing how so much of this forum is willing to turn a blind eye to cheating when it fits their agenda. THE FIGHT WAS ENDED WITH A PUNCH TO THE BALLS FFS.

kovalev couldn't really recover from the first fight, the decision ****ed him up mentally. that's the reason why he was looking for a way out in their second fight, i said this before but it's how it is. if we have fair judges scoring fights **** like this won't happen.
kovalev had never heard of someone getting "robbed" before? knowing he was fighting an american on american soil it never crossed his mind before? lol....not that ward robbed him...it was a close fight
why would this "****" kovalev up? he knew he was getting a rematch....if kovalev felt he won and won so easily then he should have been prepared to do it again or beat ward up.......kovalev knew he was getting another crack.......what he knew was that ward had settled in and won the 2nd half of their first fight and kov didnt really know what he was going to do
Many of the people who post at this forum are weakminded fools with agendas.
Tell a fool what he wants to hear, and he will believe it, even if the facts tell a different story.
Fight was competitive until the stoppage?, Kovalev was tired, HURT, claiming body shots as low (not the ones of the stoppage) and was pretty much a broken man before the stoppage.
IMO the fights don't take anything away from Kovalev since he has strong arguments on both fights, but he was the lesser fighter at the end of the day.
I think even Kovalev admited that he was going to lose the second fight any way. I'm not sure but I think I remember reading something along those lines.
But the robbery in the first one...
This was a fight where I really did not like both guys. Ward's style of fighting is frustrating to watch for me and he comes across as smug. Kovalev is smug, comes across as racist and just seems like an a$$hole overall.
I was hoping they would beat each other up more LOL
I like them both but Ward is clearly a better fighter. I thought he won the first but it was close. Ward picked up right where he left off in the 2nd. Kovalev was game but he couldn't keep up with the pace he set. Not to mention he pulled a amateur mistake and tried to switch stance right in front of Ward when he got caught. Ward was leading with the right the whole fight. He never got a chance to land it properly until Kovalev got lazy and tried to switch stance in front of him.
There's no need to act. Ward is the better fighter.
I don't understand the crying after all this time. Nothing will change this record: Ward-Kovalev 2-0. Andre retired undefeated and number P4P 1.
Kovalev is cool by me. All the best to him.
The second fight was definitely re-written as a "beat down", but I had it either even or Kov up 1 entering the round of the stoppage. They fought each other dead even from about round 5 of fight 1 until round 7 of fight 2.
Andre beat him up in BOTH fights.:blackeye:

:poke:kovalev got beat up in BOTH fights....LOL
Ward adapted half way through the first fight and has shown he's clearly better since then.
not to mention (at least IMO) Kov didn't train properly for the first fight. Ward did adapt, but Kov was also gassed. Sure some of that was body punches, but still.
Kovalev breaking mentally a little in the second bout definitely paved the way for some exaggeration and romanticising of Wards apparent mastery, for sure, but I believe Ward is the better boxer.
The first fight was close and the second fight is shrouded in BS...There’s not much that separates them, clearly. Anyone that slates one in favour of the other then, is slating the one they favour equally.
These guys match up incredibly well. Even if a third fight where to happen we’d still be torn down the middle as fans as to who is better and probably still would be after the last bell regardless of who won.
This is not too too dissimilar to asking who is the better of Manny and Juan Manuel in this sense.
I'll have to rewatch the bout then. I've seen the first one a few times, but come to think of it, the rematch I've only seen once. I don't want to argue on a match that I'm remembering.
I see it now. Weird, since I had no problem seeing the gif in your signature lol
it's really tough to see from that angle, as the ref is in the way. While the shorts do move, to me the glove looks like it connects right at the bottom of Kov's midsection basically where the Latissimus Dorsi ends. I think we all know this is going to be a hotly debated issue for a while, because it's not like it's an Andrew Golotta low blow lmao
