Adrien Broner’s next fight is in the works.
The former four-division titleholder is being pegged for a springtime fight against Omar Figueroa, sources told ******.com. The fight is being scheduled for a main event slot on Showtime in either April or May.
Broner (33-3, 24 knockouts) hasn’t competed since an uncompetitive decision loss to Mikey Garcia in July. The Cincinnati native is just 28 years old, but he’s on the brink of opponent status if he can’t top Figueroa, and look impressive in the process.
Despite his name recognition and triumphs across four weight classes, Broner is devoid of a signature win about a decade into his career, with losses to Marcos Maidana and Shawn Porter.
The hard-charging Texan has battled inactivity and hand injuries, but Figueroa looked good in a three-round destruction of Robert Guerrero in July that sent the veteran into retirement.
That was the 28-year-old’s first fight in almost two years, and he’s finally now preparing for a name opponent. As Figueroa (27-0-1, 19 KOs) prepares to jump levels up in competition, he’ll do so armed with a television-friendly approach, and with a victory over Broner, he’ll be in prime position to make some noise.
Both fighters have bounced between 140 and 147 pounds, so the fight could take place at either weight, although welterweight is the likely division for this bout. Whatever weight it’s at, the fight figures to deliver plenty of action.

Figueroa has a gas tank and seems to get better as the fights go on. He reminds me of Crawford somewhat. If he gets into AB hard and early, it could be a long night for Broner. AB does have power and speedy combos, but once he gets hit alot, that seems to go south quickly as we saw with Maidana.
I haven't seen you around lately??? I actually had to go out of my way to make sure your still good!!!!
Merry X-MAS my friend
I'm good! :) Merry X-MAS to you too!!!
Are you deliberately ignoring the fact he’s fought ONE time in last 2 years? Again prime, in shape, fighting regularly yea I like Omar in that fight. But his conditioning has been a question his last several fights, and he has not been active enough. He’s also naturally considerably smaller then broner.
he's a young kid who is still in his prime, c'mon. he just dogged guerrero after that layoff and he'll come in better against this cat with healthier hands.
i've seen plenty of fighters be inactive for years, mikey comes to mind as well as JMM and from what i've seen of this kid is he seems to be of the same mold.
not so easy work but he gets the job done. you fittin' on getting a points bet going?
ain't no damn way.
omar is specifically the type of fighter broner needs to stay away from. AB cannot handle no nonsense volume punchers with great chins.

He ain't maidana. He's a punching bag that likes to inside right. his defense sucks. Broner gives him the demarco treatment
broner not the type to turn back the clock. i'm hoping they put broner as the favorite here.
Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard applies here.
I'd pick Broner but meh the guy cba training properly and seems to have a bit of a sparring partner mentality these days. He'll get badly outworked if he don't let his hands go and knowing AB he won't. A fight Broner should win and win easy then again so was Granados and that guy Lucas flattened not long back
Will take the lesser fighter, the lesser talent, the poorer athlete in this one. Just have no faith in Broner turning up he's done as far as I am concerned.
Granados never fought Mattyhsse

Not the fat, drunk version of Broner that was making the rounds on social media a couple months ago. Now that said, if he gets his head right the same way he did for Garcia, he could impress here.

Prime, active Omar gives Adrien trouble, but he’s been way to inactive. That and the natural size difference will be to much, Broner by late tko.
