You'd think that if the rematch were to happen in May, like De La Hoya said, it would've been official by now. Somehow, Canelo got the #1 spot under the WBO, so now he's Saunders's mandatory. However, I doubt Canelo would wanna fight Saunders, after the boxing lesson the latter gave Lemieux. Last I heard about De La Hoya, he wants to fight Mayweather or something. Maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions, but it's like Canelo and Golden Boy Promotions are having a tough time choosing between GGG and Saunders. It'd suck if GGG has to wait until September, since he could age overnight.
going on the ropes on your own, like he has done since Kirkland, it's not getting "back up".
Except there's footage of GGG pushing Canelo back with his jab. He even knocked Canelo off balance with a jab.
No, getting outbox does get you the win tho and that's what Cenelo did to GGG.
I didn't know getting walked down and outworked counts as outboxing someone.
Look, I get it, you're a fanboy and you can't form your own opinion. no need to go further
I'm a fanboy, but you're the one who thinks Adelaide Byrd's garbage scorecard was the most accurate one? Yeah, okay... I think GGG won, and I didn't even have it that wide for him. Look, the footage of the fight speaks for itself. You were probably watching some other fight.
The rematch will happen. There is too much money on the table to let that go. Floyd used to give his opponents 2 months notice so they had as little time as possible to train and prepare. Perhaps Oscar is using the same strategy. If Canelo wants to exercise his option to fight Saunders for a belt, we still get a compelling fight in May regardless. Either way, I see title changing hands at 160 in 2018. No sure thing for any fighter right now. Good times.
GGG's jab backed Canelo onto the ropes for most of the fight. What match were you watching?

Getting tagged on the ropes for the majority of a match is a win?

Oh my god. :haha:
Forget it. You can't talk sense to these guys they are delusional.
What jab do you speak of? the one that was hitting Canelo arms and gloves?

Canelo did enough to get the nod and on May 5th, canelo is going to outbox and probably TKO GGG.

Adalaide Byrd probably had the most accurate score card that night

So GGG hit the same as Canelo was hitting?
Based on what?
We all saw the fight! Canelo (and yes I am a fan) could not answer GGG jab!
I remember Canelo crying about Erislandy Lara running a marathon when they met in the ring.
Canelo did the same against GGG!
Adalaide Byrd canceled herself from boxing that night so don't go there!

Canelo is winning the rematch, that's all you need to know.

I think it's hilarious people on here are sooo sure Canelo will win the rematch.
Based on what? He got his sh*t rocked in the first fight. I watched it. Live. In regard to Saul's performance, that was the saddest thing I've ever seen.
no oscar thinking mmm get an easy belt against saunder in may than rematch ggg with a belt around nelos waist making it a true undisputed championship fight for all 4 belts plus the lineal and ggg being a year older in september thats what there truly thinking about.
Saunders won't be an easy fight for Canelo, and they know it now. Let's say he does take that route and they have a lineal unification bout at the end of the year, who does GGG face in the meantime?
Dominic Wade rematch? Kell Brook rematch? He isn't going to rematch Jacobs

I wouldn't have thought they would announce a may fight now until around late January.
No point right now, most of the public are thinking about Christmas/New year and all that madness. Nobody is doing business right now announcing fights. They will wait for things to settle down in the new year for maximum exposure and people's attention. That's how marketing works.
Unless fighters are already fighting in January/February/possibly march, pretty much nobody has a fight signed or being announced for these reasons.
