"My body hurts" "I've been doing this for so many years I've nothing left to give".
3 months later.
"I miss fighting".
Yeah, hoping that you can land another fight for 6+ millions while you sell 100k ppv?
Stay retired, no one wants to see your fights, dirty boring figher.
There's nothing Andre Ward can do when everybody hates him for being great. They're legit treating him like they treated Floyd, they refuse to give him his credit for being great. They do not like him and this will never change.

I think he is going the Floyd rout. Retire at your peek. And have a dope "return party" in about 9 months or so..
Lol @ these angry bytches. They simply can't let go of the fact that they were WRONG about the guy. Now, he will forever haunt them.

7mil+ppv for a fight that did under 150k+, god damn ROC Nation. Thats a god damn daylight bank robbery. Even Al Haymon would get a heart attack paying his fighters this much money.
think about it this way...he also got what? 6.5 for the first one? now think about this...he also got hbo to pay him about 2 mil to spar alex brand and got another 2 mil out of the barrera fight all in the hopes hbo could have that juicy ward/kova matchup.....ward done raped the game in the last couple years
wards retirement was def never carved in stone...if the right fight for the right price materializes he will be back...hes still in good shape and able bodied....thats the problem though...anything less for ward is going to be a letdown and its going to be hard to find a good fight thats going to pay him the same or more
i would def agree that his "retirement" was an attention grab while basking in his greatest victory.....who knows maybe a bellew fight can still happen at some point

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
Every boxer has the right to retire any time they want for what ever reasons they want. Too many boxers like Roy Jones and Hopkins keep fighting when they are very rich and should retire for their future health. Ward said he is retiring because his body couldn't handle the training needed to be at his best. I believe him and I am not a Ward fan.
I don’t get it, of course he would miss fighting. Everyone of them do when they retire. That doesn’t mean they want to fight again, am sure some of them do but those are the ones that actually need the more. Once they are secured financially then they are not that eager to jump out of retirement, unless they are presented an opportunity of a lifetime.
Do you think that fighters whose whole lives have been about the sport aren't going to miss it ever? He picked up boxing at 9 - this is what he's invested most of his time and energy into practically his whole life and now he doesn't do it at all.
This isn't unusual or unexpected, regardless of whether he genuinely wants to return.
Makes zero sense. He just fought the top guy twice, no reason for him to wait til guys lesser than the one he just fought twice clear each other out
Good post
I think that Ward recognized that his era is over. He got two close, controversial wins over Kovalev, and it isn't going to get any better than that at this stage of his career.
There is some really talented new blood at 175 and 190, and Ward probably is feeling some wear and tear. It is a good time for him to get out if he wants to do it on top.
we see this kind of retirement all the time, fighters 'retiring' as a way of attention seeking hoping that people are going to be desperate for them to come out of retirement.. The thing is noone misses ward at all, hes been forgotten about really quickly. Cause what is there to talk about really? I cant think of any great ward fights.
I can tell you NEVER been a fighter cuz fighters do miss the action & its like a drug, its hard to let go. I heard next to my job they gon open a boxing gym & if they do I want to see how much it will cost for at least one day a week cuz I want to mix it up with them youngbloods.
I miss Ward so there goes your "noone misses ward at all" theory. At least if he comes back we can give him the P4P King title back cuz its hard to choose now between fighters like Bud, Nelo or Thurman....
Lol no... Usyk would destroy him, too big, too skilled. Wards tactics wouldn't work on a guy that big
Destroy? Skilled? The guy don't even have a jab. LOL
Ward will wait until 175 cools off before even considering fighting again. Too dangerous. CW is no easy path to glory either. Sadly, no one outside of his small contingent of fans will care if he ever fights again.
LMAO....He just beat the "crusher" who WAS the best at 175 from round 4 of the 1st fight ALL the way to the 2nd fight & right NOW there aint anyone good at 175.
No gift in the 1st fight, it was clear kovalev didn't want that body work & in the 2nd fight you guys cry bout what you can argue was 1 low-blow but wont DARE mention the low-blow kovalev landed on Ward. Toney Weeks saved kovalev the K.O. You guys should be thanking T.Weeks!
The regular crowd begging him to stay retired, they know what's going to happen if he does return. He's taking Usyks scalp.
